Obviously 1st would be deron but who after could become the best player? To me it seems Cj he has all the tools besides maybe maturity right now. One could possibly argue brewer but Cj is already well ahead of him as far as a offensive player, and im not sure Brewer will ever really develop his shot enough or iso skills that Cj already has.

I dont think Utah is even close to giving up on CJ adn it would have to be a nice deal to get him in a package just my opinion, but what are some of the other opinions on him? Am I just a fan boy of CJ?

You're just a fan boy of CJ. The kid has the tools, but I don't know if they will ever develop.

I would have to say it's just you. Granted, I'm not a talent evaluator but I've never seen anything to indicate that he'll be able to become a consistent scorer

Actually I would put it the otherway around. What is there on the basketball court that CJ isn't capable of doing?
He can get his own shot whenever he wants.
He can drive the line and finish with a pass, a dunk or a layup.
He can blocks shots from the weakside.
He uses he wingspan to deflect a lot of balls.
He can run the fastbreak or finish it with an alleyoop jam.

Physically he is Kobe. Mentally he doesn't seem to have that kind of drive and focus.

Deron on the other hand has a good basketball body-not a great one. However he has the mental part of it down. Deron is a killer.

CJ's problem has never been talent, its been his motor. That's not something thats likely to improve. He may get a little bit better, but after 4 years in the league, thinking that he's going to be anything more than he is is betting on long odds. I hope the Jazz do move him, because he is the epitome of everything that was wrong with last year's team: a selfish player who only cares about getting his points regardless of how it affects the team.

If you're taking the glass-half-full view, you could say that the mental side to his game is more likely to improve with experience and maturity. It's much harder (it not impossible) to add "quickness" and "athleticism" if you don't already have them.

I think the problem is he needs 30-40 min per game to develop but Jazz have many 3s and 2s in front of him. He would have improved alot last year if he was on OKC. Worst thing that ever happened last summer for him as well as the Jazz was the Jazz matching that offer. KOC blew that one and now the Jazz are paying for it as well as CJ.

From what I hear every coach on the team wanted to keep CJ. Tough to blame that one on KOC.

I wonder if CJ needed a different role last year. With the starting lineup he was the fifth option. If you bring him off the bench he would at times be the second option. That may be a better way for him to get some experience and build confidence.

I think lots of people have similar bodies to Kobe. What no one else has, though, is the fanatical work ethic and incredible basketball skills. I would love to see Miles turn into the kind of athletic, scoring wing player we could use, but I don't really see it happening.

Apparently Sloan is pissed at him again because he didn't play in Orlando with the summer league team. I don't understand why he won't go above and beyond to take advantage of his situation. I thought maybe he would step up the maturity level with the new contract, but maybe not.

Source? If true, I think it's another sign that Sloan is starting to lose it. Sure CJ is young, but he's also a vet with 4 years of NBA experience. He started 72 games (every one he played) for the Jazz last year. Does that sound like a guy who should be playing in the Summer League?

C.J. and Fesenko seem to both suffer from the same malady - ideal build for the NBA game, but their mental makeup just didn't seem to make it out of 8th or 9th grade. Fesenko might actually have even a higher ceiling than C.J., honestly.

C.J.'s challenge is that his offensive game is probably an 8 on the effort meter, whereas his interest in anything to do with the other end of the floor is a 2 or 3. He's largely indifferent when it comes to playing tight defense, rebounding, filling out the passing lanes, etc. The next time he comes crashing hard to the floor chasing a loose ball or rebound might be the first time I see it. If there are truly 6 or 7 teams interested in him, let's move him for cap space and or a future pick, if possible..

How many of those rookies started 72 NBA games last season? I'm not convinced that playing in the summer league helps CJ at this point.

That's the lamest thing I have ever heard of. He has no obligations to compete in a "summer league". What is he going to learn in 5 days? I think he's better off doing what he is doing. Working out daily and hooping with real NBA players, not hopefuls.
