Sign Hakim Warrick

Post#1 » by Hawk4Playoffs » Thu Jul 9, 2009 2:53 pm

I think Hakim Warrick would fit in well with our team. He would be a good backup PF... He is like a poor mans Josh Smith. It doesn't look like we can get any other free-agent big men (Bass, Birdman, Frye...) If Marvin takes the QO or contract, and we have money left over, we should go after Warrick.

What do you guys think?

Warrick is restricted.

Just sign Diogu. He hasn't played as many minutes as Warrick but he basically has the exact same strengths and weaknesses.

I would go after Frye o try to trade for Josh Boone, he is really a guy that would provide something different. We need a 5 with size not an undersized PF.

Would rather bring over Andersen.

I lean toward David Andersen as well. Not interested in a poor man's Josh Smith (we already have that in Solo if retained). I'm interested in either a guy with some offensive flexibility (shooting range) to his game like Andersen or a bruising space eater down low (although the proven ones are getting offered too much). Warrick is neither of those.

Warrick is actually a pretty good shooter out to 20 feet. The problem is that his defense and rebounding are pretty lame according to Grizzly fans. I actually would not be surprised if Andersen turned out to be a similar NBA player based on the scouting reports which isn't really a bad thing.

I didn't realize Warrick's range had extended so far, but I never really saw much of the Grizzlies first hand last year on league pass. I still stand by preferring other options.

At the backup post position, you gotta have a defensive presence. We appear to have enough offense on the bench now with Crawford and possibly Flip.
We need someone to stop those drives to the lane and a rebounder.

I actually like Warrick for the Cavs, but unfortunately he's restricted.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved
