Conversation between Grant Hill and Mike D'Antoni, circa 2011:

The Rondo Show wrote:Listening to Hill talk, it doesn't sound like he is a guy who is all about winning and is dying for that one last chance at a title and the idea of becoming a Celtic:
Playing for the Celtics will guarantee a chance at a championship, but Hill isn’t thrilled by the prospect of coming off the bench.

“I know going to Boston, it would be great winning and all that,” Hill said, “but I’ve missed so much basketball and missed so many years, I want to play. I want to get out there, lace ’em up and play.”

I don't think he's coming here after reading that article.

I really do not understand his obsession of playing for the knicks to be honest. The team has not been good in like 10 years. What exactly is he help trying to rebuild there?

Whatever. Hill is not coming here. Hey who cares if his team wins, just as long as he gets to play 30 minutes a game.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

Ensoul,

He'll basically get 5-7 minutes more a night in NYK. It's not like he'll play 40 minutes a night and he'd get 25 minutes a night minimum in Boston. Maybe he's just covering up for his wife having him by the ballz.

What a crock though. Guy has 1-2 years left in his work career... She can do whatever the hel she wants the next 50 years. I'm sure he'll finance 90% of it.

This is a blessing in disguise anyways. Hill is injury-prone and washed-up. We can do better.

An open letter to Doc:

I don't care if he is your friend. I don't want him in Boston. His wife is controlling him. How could he focus on basketball? Just find someone who has desire to win a ring. Damn it!

There's a report that Suns owner Robert Sarver, GM Steve Kerr and
Coach Alvin Gentry are making a last pitch to Hill in Orlando today.

Can't you all let him make his decision before dumping the haterade. It isn't like he is going to the Lakers. Why the hell should Grant HIll make a decision that is good for the Boston Celtics and its fans instead of one that is good for him and his family?

Anyone who doesn't think it is important to make his wife happy better start wondering who is.

Wow guys, what do you all have against spouses?

I don't unilaterally decide what city my husband and I are going to live in. Why would Grant Hill ignore what his wife has to say?

Personally....nothing.....been married for 32 yrs........whatever the reason he's balking....it's hurting the Green and for simply my own fanatic Celtic reasons.....if the C's want him here to get #18....so do I. So naturally I want the blockage removed....if it's the spouse wanting something different....I want her to change her mind. It could be any other reason..it doesn't matter...I want it changed and I want him signed...if it gets us #18. Nothing personal.

^It's not that Grant is listening to his wife that pisses us off. It's that he has, at best, a few years left in his career to compete for a title, and she's **** that up for him. She can't wait until AFTER he retires??
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I don't understand how living in Boston would be such a handicap to the wife's singing career/affinity for NY ( i admit it could be more than that). It would not be that far away, a 1 or 2 hour flight easily. Hill would HAVE to live in the city his team is located, but, and not to belittle the demands of a musician, she could swing her music career for another year or two while allowing her man to reach one of his career goals (a ring). Then when hes retired, the focus is on her.

The man has gone through a lot of physical speed bumps as a pro baller, yet hes actually in a position to achieve the pinnacle of professional athletics - the championship. How bad would that haunt him for life knowing he stumbled all the way to the finish line only to have his wife throw in the white towel for him before he crossed it. Ouch.

“I’ve spoken to him. He and I are friends,’’ Allen said. “I’ll have a conversation with him again. My phone lines are open.

“I hate to be a bugaboo, but in a situation like this, it’s like, ‘What do you need? Come to town. Let’s hang out. Let’s get together because as much as I want to do this for myself, I want to do it for you, too.’ It’s a two-way street.

“I couldn’t tell you [which team he’s leaning toward] and I don’t even want to be rude and ask to try to prepare. You just hope, just like Rasheed [ Wallace], you just hope that they see this is a great place to be.’’

On his sales pitch to Hill, Allen said, “When we talked, [Hill] was excited about what I was telling him. I told him, ‘If you ever want to win a championship, you want to win it in Boston because you become a god, you become a part of a legacy and you won’t die with the fans. It will always be everlasting. You can be with other cities and win it, but nothing like here.’ ’’

ps.....it seems it's his wifes career + playing mins vs being a winner + getting a title
after 14 years.....maybe the C's need to let this guy take a walk out the door and say move on.

^If that doesn't convince Grant, his wife must have his nuts stashed in a lock-box somewhere...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
