I'd look more on the trade front. There is a mild rumour that Boston may be trying to get ivolved in the Utah-Chiacago-Portland trade. Hopeufully we bring back a back up swing man.

Gant, I was wondering the same thing. We really need a back up for Pierce. Walker doesn't seem close to ready to be a rotation player. It's going to be hard to get a player for $1.9 million. It most likely has to come from a trade.
Can we combine the $1.9 million and $1.1 million on the same player? The players I want are Daniels, Barnes, Rodney Carney, or Moon.

if we could get Outlaw that'd be crazy, but realistically we should get Barnes or CJ Miles. Oh and Bring back Gerald Green too

Danny tried to get Outlaw a little while back, and we already know that he has shown interest in Miles. Travis would be the best fit, but Miles would be nice as well. This team has a lot of old legs on it, and I'm happy that we aren't relying on another set of them off of the bench. A guy like Outlaw would bring an explosve scorer who could be slotted at the 4 in a small lineup on board for us. That would be ideal, IMO. You then find a way to bring in a decent combo guard and you are all set.
I've already said it before, but Eddie is a nice 4th guard behind a good combo guard. His ability to hit a three and his familiarity with our system makes him valuable. You just don't want him being the primary backup guard off of the bench. If we get in on Outlaw (perfect for us), and get a decent combo guard, the our rotation would be
Rondo
Ray
Paul
KG
Perk
Sheed
Outlaw
Combo Guard
House
You can win with that group in the playoffs. The combo guard plays the most minutes behind Rondo and Ray, with Eddie filling in some gaps, maybe playing 8 minutes a game, and coming out for end of quarter situations. The old "Steve Kerr role". Outlaw gets Paul and Ray a lot of rest, and can be that small PF when needed. His numbers at the 4 were very good last s eason for the Blazers, yet he is a natural 3. We would have great length as a lineup as well. A Baby sign and trade might just well set this up, so we can use our expirings to get the combo guard. With the cap coming down next season, now might be the opportune time to set our roster for the next two seasons. 2011 will be a good free agent class as well, and Paul's money is coming off the books then.

Any players mentioned that'd be coming/going to/from Boston, or is it just that the Celts are kicking the tires?

Re: Who is available for free agent small forwards?
Personally, I think the Cs have set their sights on a sign-and-trade for their expirings (which may include Eddie House--since he's the only expiring who has value around the league)...
Beyond trades that are impossible to predict, my favorite among the remaining free agents is Marquis Daniels. He a true small forward (undersized though he is), has range, can handle the ball and play a little point when necessary, and is basically a jack of all trades. I'd talk to his agent to see what kind of salary it'd take to get him in green. He's this year's Roger Mason Jr.

The leaks are real...the news is fake.

Like I said we need to get in on that UTA-CHI-POR trade and try to get CJ Miles or Outlaw...

Looking at the free agent list, and being realistic about it, it makes more sense to get in on a trade for that role. It's still early, but there is a gaping hole at the 3 and the 1 right now.

Sorry I didn't mean to highjack the thread. The rumour is on the Chicago board. The C's are mentioned in passing. I would love outlaw here. He would be perfect for this team. My main concern with this team is younger more athletic teams have given us major problems in the past. The Charlottes, Atlantas and Wizards of the world. We need young fresh legs to run and gun.

Couldn't agree with you more. While I love the makeup of this team, it sure wouldn't hurt to get some "fresher" legs into the rotation. And hasn't Ainge always had a "thing" for Outlaw?

If POR can somehow stay under the cap while facilitating the rest of the deal then a S&T of Big Baby at 5.6 mil can actually return Outlaw 3.6 mil but it doesn't work the other way unless POR is under the cap. They could attach a minimum salary to Outlaw but POR doesn't have one but CHI does.
