Danny's plan B..........

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 1:49 am

"Ainge’s summer isn’t finished, though. Though he declined to identify the next target, a league source said that the Celtics have been investigating sign-and-trade possibilities with other teams."

The only guys that come to mind are Jamario Moon and Travis Outlaw. Both are free agents and both fit our needs as a backup 3. Its also worth noting that both would require a sign and trade as restricted free agents seeing as we don't have the cap space to outbid their current teams.

As others have said, I think that the Warriors are great sign and trade parters if Big Baby is involved. I would much rather keep the guy, but if he must go, I think the Warriors are a perfect fit. Baby is a very "Nellie" type of unorthodox player, and they have an absolute glut of good swing guys who could spell Pierce and Allen.

I think DA may be looking to trade TA, Scal, Pruitt, Walker.

I'd take on Outlaw and pass on Stackhouse. It seems like he's been in the league longer than Mt. Mutumbo.

when they said sign and trade, they ment free agents signing and traded to us, not baby to other teams i'm thinking.

Scal, TA, 3 million in cash and next years first for outlaw sign and trade. U usually don't get that kind of deal for sign and trades, usually it's ending crap and a second. Only thing is portland would need the cap room or not?

Right, does this mean we're trading Davis, or does it mean we're getting another team's free agent? Or both at the same time?

Marvin Williams hasn't been mentioned once in all this summer's FA talk-

Outlaw is under contract.

I think New Orleans is going to be in pretty desperate straits as far as a big man. I think the news is so bad on Chandler it will end up being good financially but they are not going to spend in FA, so S&T is the only option.

With Bass getting 18 mil for 4 years S&T for Baby is going to be even more difficult. Obviously the deal can just be front loaded or players added but for 3-4 mil Boston should just bring him back.

I think the best scenario is to add some value to Scal and TA and use them as the money in a S&T and keep Davis especially at Scal type money. There has to be a team with a FA or RFA that is just no going to go beyond this season that would just like to get a draft pick and fill some roster spots for the year.

I'd be interested in flipping a combination of Eddie, TA, Scalabrine, Pruitt for Kleiza. I think Eddie is a guy that lots of teams would like to have as a reserve. He'd fit in great in Denver's run and gun type style and JR Smith would take a lot of ball handling pressure off of Eddie. TA would be a cheap Jones replaces and Scal can even bring some of the offensive spacing that Kleiza brings in that same 3/4 hyrbrid frame.

That would be an ideal move for me. Losing Eddie and TA would decimate our backcourt however. So there would have to be a couple of cheap PG's and SG's that Danny has in mind to fill those spots in a deal like this. Lue and Bogans.

Resign Davis at the QO.... All of that happening together just seems unrealistic though and it's all conjecture... so... whatever.

Can't say I am all that interested in Kleiza but Keith Bogans might fit the bill for Boston.

I'd love to grab James Singleton from the Mavs, but he's probably not good enough to be a plan B. Just my kind of player though: big, athletic, hard worker.

NO's definitely the team to target considering their situation. Do you mostly want to keep Davis as insurance? I don't see how he get pt with a healthy Perk, KG and Wallace over the next 2 years...

I want Davis because I live in reality. What benefit is there in having Perk/KG/Sheed all play 32+ mpg for 82 games when none of them came close to it last year?

Last season mpg
KG - 31
Perk - 29
Baby - 21
Powe - 17
Moore - 19 in 24 games
Scal - 13 in 39 games

Now a lot of the mins are created by KG only playing 57 games, but he only played 57 games. Guess what Sheed played 66 avg 32 mins. If you go into the season with only 3 bigs then Scal is going to have to play 1500-1700 mins and his career high is like 1100 and he usually plays about 500.

Your going to need 4 bigs why not have 4 that can play, reduce the load on KG and Sheed during the regular season and let Baby do some of the lifting.

And KG, Sheed and Perk are all considerable risks for injuries. Hate to say it but realistically they will probably combine for missing 20 or 30 games. Also I think it will be easier to get a guard mid season should someone else go down.

??? Huh?? KG played 31, Perk played 29 and Sheed played 32. That's 92 out of a possible 96 minutes. And low 30s for these guys will keep them all fresh throughout the year. Don't forget we still have Scal at least as of now. Davis could possibly get traded.
