C's trying to trade for Moon
Just saw this on Hoopsworld. Not a bad idea he played well for Toronto.

Re: C's trying to trade for Moon
The only bad contract they have on their team that we could take is James Jones. We'd have to trade some of our small forwards or shooting guards to make room for them.

He has decent consistent numbers. I love that we are getting starters for a our bench. Hopefully Danny can keep it up.

I like the idea of Moon but the article just says there are free agents that interest the Celtics and Moon is one of them and that "the Celtics have investigated sign-and-trade possibilities with other teams - a scenario that could theoretically work in a move for Moon", nothing about actually trying to trade for him.
I am fairly sure Moon has received a qualifying offer from the Heat already.

i know he's athletic, and i've seen some nice plays from him, but wow his numbers don't jump out at u.
per 48 the guy was like 10th on the heat.
fg, 3pt, and ft% look good, and i know he's ok defender too. I just wouldn't want to pay too much for him.

I see what you're saying Darth, but the pickings are pretty slim and he's put up decent enough stats. He's much better then what we had last season for backups that's for sure.

One things for sure we have to do something else. If Paul or Ray get injured we'll be screwed like last year.

I'm not a huge fan of Moon. He's a solid energy guy, but I think there are better and cheaper options.

What the Cs lack right now is what Doc likes to call "Glue Guys". It's great to have what could be the best starting five in the league next season but we lack thoses "Glue Guys". I see Moon has a much better fit to this team then Matt Barnes. You put Moon are a team like the Cs and he because a great "Glue Guy" for this team. 2 season ago the Cs have Powe, Posey, BBD and PJ Brown who all where great "Glue Guys" each guys really had a big hand in big games for the Cs. Last season two of those Glue Guys (Powe and BBD) had to play starter minutes and they did a solid job but we didn't have anyone to take over there role. Right now the Cs don't have that unless we want to call Perk/Wallace a Glue Guy. But I think you guys get my point. We need solid Role Players to compliment our starters. Because the big 3 plus 3 can't do it on their own.

Very good point. I just want us to pick up some help at teh 1 through 3 spots for the bench. Don't even worry about free agency next season, because Ray's money will be coming off (he could be extended before then, and Rondo will need to be reupped. 2011 has a good free agent class as well, and Paul's deal is up then, which will be a huge chunk of change.
The key is that we need guys who can back up Paul and Ray, and who can play with Rondo. Dudes who can run the floor, defend their positions, and shot an open jumper. That is enough, as Rondo can take care of the rest for them. One thing which killed us last season wasn't just the lack of depth behind Paul and Ray, but that the guys we had couldn't play with Rajon. If you can't play with him, then you aren't needed here. Moon would do well next to him, though.
I wouldn't mind seeing Von Wafer here either. A good athlete, with strong finishing skills and a jumper. His defense needs work, but that is what we are about anyways. If we can find a way to get Moon in a sign and trade, Wafer would be great to have as a shooting guard, or someone like him. If we get really lucky, and are able to land a guy liek Outlaw in a tarde, then Wafer bwould be even more valuable, as more of a pure two, who can also play a little three. I want some scoring punch coming in off the bench this time around. Our defensive system covers up a lot of holes on its own, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have two guys who can back up Paul and Ray, because if they even feel a little off we can just sit them out for a game or two, and wouldn't have to worry about it. Just start one of the others, and you are fine for the short term.
The one guy I want to keep from our young scrubs is Walker. He has the strength, athleticism and attitude to be a really good defender in the future. With a deep enough bench we can develop him without having to count on him in a significant way.

Re: C's trying to trade for Moon
I dont get all the small forward talk--I get Grant Hill coming in for cheap but its not a real position of need.
What we need is a Marbury type point guard--A penetrator that can dish and shoot a little.
Our second unit has three spot up shooters---House, Sheed, Baby. That said, we need a slasher and penetrating point to go to work with that floor spread out.
Walker and TA both fit the slasher role; both can get to the line and play D and I believe in both.
The point guard is what we really need.
Dam I wish we could hold on to Steph; he is the perfect second unit guy and could easily run the first unit in a pinch.
Pruitt is decent, but we need a 1 that can get to the basket and/or dish with the floor spread. Pruitt is more of a shooter that passes and goes to a spot and doesnt really penetrate or have a command when he is running things.

Re: C's trying to trade for Moon
I think signing Moon would be a great idea. I used to watch him play when he was on the Albany Patroons in the CBA. You could tell then he had potential.
PROS:
-Very Good Shot Blocker
-Good Defender
-Solid Shooter
-Solid Rebounder
-Only 26 years old
CONS:
-Mediocre Handle
-Cannot Create Own Shot

I would agree with every thing except that he is not 26... He is 29 years old... so i would put that as a con... He does have some room for improvement but not as much if he was 26.

Small forward is not a position of need?

Now we know who Danny Ainge is registered under on this board.
Hey, Danny. Go watch the tapes. Check the minutes. Watch what's left of Pierce's legs and Allen's legs in the Orlando series.
And then look at the guy you wasted $2.5 million on sitting on the bench. Tony Allen, who's not smart enough to be trusted to play.
And then come back here and tell me again small forward's not a position of need. You screwed this team up last year at the 3.
Don't do it again.
