Jerel McNeal

Post#1 » by dj3ptkilla » Fri Jul 10, 2009 6:32 am

Just looking at the summer league roster and I think this guy has a real shot at making the team. He was really good in college average I believe 19 points a game is very versatile can play some one and two and from the interviews seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. There's a lot of players people fall in love with during summer league and this guy is one I'll particularly be paying attention to tomorrow in the first game. What do you guys think does he have a chance to make it on the roster a la a Bobby Brown??

I doubt he has a chance at all. There's no real need or room for him or any other guard. Bryant is probably the only one with a real shot at the roster, only for the reason that he fills the most obvious hole we have for a big man inside.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

I don't necessarily agree. There is always room for TALENT. Don't forget that it isn't just the 12-man roster but 15 that you actually carry with the inactives. I can guarantee that Kenny will be inactive, and beyond that who knows what will happen as far as possible moves before the end of summer.

Point taken. Maybe I should have said that I don't think McNeal fills the priority need. If he makes the roster it would probably be late in the off season once other pressing priorities are filled. If anything, a good SL showing could earn him a camp invite.

Look for the Clips or Raps to steal him if he has a good showing at SL

Seeing Jerel play over 40 games live I can vouch for his talent. Once he gets in a groove on offense he is very effective and he has always been a defensive minded player as well, which could land him a spot on a roster. I hope Jerel does well, and I think you're getting a surprisingly talented player. Best of luck to 'Rel on the Kings if he makes it.

KIE, I actually think we need another 2 guard(preferably a swingman. I think McNeal DOES have a shot at making the roster. I see Petrie adding a big man and a guard to round out the roster.

Because of the economy I heard many teams will be cutting back off the 14/15 on 1140 yesterday. Right now Sergio is our 11 or 12 next year. It will depend if Brockman is a gets minutes as a 10 or a 11-13. Also KT will be traded for someone who plays so his roster spot will be here also. It will be tough for McNeal to make it.

Yeah, he looked pretty solid. 4-4 FG

I think ultimately, he will not make it to the roster though. He will be buried behind with Martin, Garcia, Evans and co. McNeal should be a nice contributor with someone when given a chance IMO.

I think at the very least he gets invited to camp I mean the guy has played solid D and takes smart shots I like him if we go 15 deep might as well sign him cheaply for a spot on the team you never know he might be a steal of some kind.
