Anyone Else On The Matt Barnes Bandwagon

Post#1 » by Datruth345 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:02 pm

i think he would fit in very nicely with the celtics and with the names that are still available, i think he is one of the best left

he is an active, defensive-minded wing player, can knock down threes when he got it going & can run the break with or without the ball

i was on this same bandwagon last season, and he ended up signing for the veteran minimum

Matt Barnes for the bi-annual exception
anyone with me?

I don't think we have enough to offer him. It's not like he's at the end of the road, he's still a young kid. So he might be in his prime years right now.

A very good selling tool could be Posey's contract. He got a fat contract after winning a title with us. So yeah I guess there is a chance we can get him to sign on the dotted line.

I like Barnes overall, but to say he's "defensive minded" is like saying Mike Sweetney is "calorie conscious".

Barnes had some of the worst defensive numbers in the league last year.

And go ask the Suns fans, they'll tell you his D is atrocious.

Still, maybe the C's can put him in a decent scheme. He is active, athletic, and can hit a 3. There are better options but maybe not for the LLE.

For what we can offer without a sign and trade I'm all for Matt Barnes, after Hill I feel like he is the best free agent swingman out there. If the quality dips much below Barnes in someone who is available I'd rather see minutes force fed to J.R. and Walker early in the season. We've got enough talent to win while trying them out and if they can't step up make a move at the trade deadline.

I actually would rather hold out for Jamario Moon. Barnes is nothing special and you can tell that the front office doesn't hold him in high regards.

Let Cleveland move first that way Pierce will have another guy on their roster who he can toast up. Barnes is not going to be a Celtic. Book it.

I feel this would be 100% the best choice for the Celtics to make ... He will fit VERY well with Rondo ... I say do it !

He's not particularly good at any one thing, but his grit is something that teams could use. Good pickup for you guys if you go after him.

I thought they just signed Anthony Parker. Why are they interested in Barnes?
