I somewhat get the idea that he might get less playing time with four in front of him-Murphy,Hibbert, Foster, and Hansbrough. But McRoberts? I would rather have Davis than Mac. He had a good SL when he played but still. My only concern about Davis would be the cost compared to Mac. Not sure who else TPTB have their eye on so it might not work but as far as improving the team it seems to me Davis would do that more than McRoberts.
The problem is we'd have to invest a lot of money in a guy that would replace McRoberts as the 3rd string PF/C type player. That's a lot of money to spend that we don't have to spend.
If we hadn't drafted Hansbrough, Davis would probably be the backup type PF that we could go after, but we did, and now we really don't have a need for him.
McRoberts is a 5-10 minute a night type player on the nights that he's not inactive. Davis would replace that, or take minutes away from the new lotto pick PF.
It's just a poor use of money. Yeah, Davis is better than McRoberts, but at what cost?
