Has KOC screwed up?

Post#1 » by tdownwa » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:27 pm

Bye Paul! See you when the Blazers play the Jazz!

Paul is gonzo! Unless we give up Boozer to Chi, GS, or NYK for nothing, I dont see Paul a Jazz Uni next year. There is NO incentive for any of these teams to sweeten a deal for Boozer sense KOC screwed up and stated the teams #1 priority was to bring Paul back. Now that teams sense blood in the water they are going to sit back and see how KOC scrambles to make a bad trade all to save a soon to be OVERPAID Paul Millsap! Time for the Jazz to kiss and make up with Boozer. ESPN has stated Utah and Boozer are done. The Boozer camp has given KOC the okay to move him but what do you do now KOC! You better hope you can get something better then Tim Thomas in trade for an All-Star/Olympian PF. Oh and Jazzfans/Boozer haters what do you think now? Is Booz still overrated? Its funny seeing all your butt-holes pucker now that you're realizing the Jazz wont spend $81 million next year, and unless they can move Boozer for more then Tim Freaking Thomas he'll suit up for Utah for one last season. I wonder what Derons thinking about all this. Hmmm Boozer all but gone. Sap is either the starter or gone by the end of the week. Tim Thomas might be running the pick and role with D-Will next year?!? Uggh! David Lee anyone? Start the talks back up with Houston to bring in T-Mac because right now we have no low post presence and at least Tracy can get to the hole. Utah might set a team record next year for most 3pt attempts.

Its not all bad for KOC. He did bamboozle Okur to sign a 2 year extension.

Easy there. Don't pull the "KOC screwed the pooch" philosophy until it's in hindsight. I think we will be alright this season.

The front wiretap from the desnews makes me want Paul less. This is what happens when family is your agent. I would almost rather see Paul off and the Jazz hold on to Boozer for something before the trade deadline. Let Portland deal with his salary when they need to resign Aldrige and Roy.

Ya maybe we could steal Aldridge from them when it comes to that :D

How would you expect KOC to handle it? He obviously was trying to deter teams from offering Millsap a deal, and had Turkgolu not backed out, his strategy would have played out perfectly. Its not as though Portland would have structured anything differently had KOC not been vocal regarding Utah's desire to retain Millsap. It is in their interest to front load the contract, not only to prevent Utah from matching, but also because it makes Millsap a better trading asset down the road- and guess what? When Utah matches, we will have a near all star caliber pf (wait and see) with a cap hit of only $8M and a salary of less than $7M a year after 2010.

And overpaid? Everyone on these boards who thinks it is such a stretch to pay Millsap $32M over four years needs to enlighten the rest of us in regards to who we can acquire who will provide 18/11, plus comparable intangibles (those qualities which don't show up on a stat sheet, but which win games) night in and night out. Aren't you the same people who were so happy when we signed Boozer to that ridiculous contract five years ago? Maybe his attitude and 30% no show rate have made you feel jaded and paranoid... Yet you want to keep him now instead of the guy who makes 30% less and plays 50% more? Interesting.

KOC screwed this? C'mon, Millsap uncle talked/demanded 10M per year even before free agency started.... and he didn't sound flexible. What wopuld you expect a front office already over the tax to respond to such a claim?
KOC answer was a good one, a respectfull one... go test the waters, set your value and come to me with it... and now Millsap camp make it soud as if the Jazz disrespected Paul? C'mon.... I would have thought Millsap to be a little bit smarter that that...
Millsap's camp words were Boozeresque crap.

KOC wasn't lowballing Sap, he was doing what any head of a small market franchise would do with the bloated payroll we have. Feels like the next year or two are really gonna be rebuilding time for the Jazz. Booz is done in Utah, KOC will move him for whatever he can get at this point, and I honestly don't know if we'll re-sign Millsap anymore.

Hopefully KOC can get this team together soon enough to convince DWill that management is dedicated to making this team more capable than first round exits or worse every season.

Seriously. If the Jazz match, you are going to have to bring your A game every night Paul. Show that you deserve the respect and you will get it. Start having bad nights and you will no longer be the crowd favorite (see Kirilenko). If you go to Portland, best of luck to you though Blazer fans will be throwing you under the bus unless you produce big time too.

PS: Tell your people it isn't cool to bad mouth your (possibly former) employer. It just makes you look like a whiny *****.

Seriously in my mind the whole humble image I've had of Paul is gone. His agents made him sound whiny. If he doesn't produce big in a Jazz uni, or if he ends up in Portland I will boo him every time he touches the ball. That may sound childish, but I don't really care. You talk about being disrespected when you're offered 7 million dollars? Give me a break!

Boozer is going to tear it up wherever he goes, that's for sure. I feel bad for him for all this criticism he has to take (not that he cares what anyone thinks). Not his fault he gets injured much, it happens. And that statement made to Stein was not meant to be public, I'm sure many players know what they are going to do long before they have to make the decision, so I don't fault him for that either. He was also our best player in the playoffs, which was right after he said he was 100%.

The comments are interesting considering the jazz are going to ship out Boozer an allstar and olympian, to accommodate millsaps contract. The agents sound like they're insulted the jazz didn't just give in to whatever Millsap asked for.

I'm so concerned with this agent's comments that I think I'll go have a turky sandwich.

Millsap's offer sheet and Roy/Aldridge's extensions do not effect each other.
