Game 3 vs wolves. Another victory for the rockets. Maintain Rockets' tradition in dominating the summer league.

Dorsey continues to dominates the board. Averageing 14.3 rb per game (next best is 11.0) leading the entire summer league. He is also 3rd in blocks at 2.7 blocks per game ( best is 3.0 by A. Randolph). He is the "Dwight Howard" of the summer league :D

JT looks good and with the void at SG, expect him to be a rotation player in his rookie year.

Chase again showed he has the offensive skill to play in Adelman's offense but need to improve his defense. He is still better than Novak in defense though ==> he will probably get some playing time this coming season too.

Morey had an interview and said that Adelman is going to implement more of his motion offense. Even if Rockets is not contending, we probably get to see some exciting offense for once.

Dorsey is looking good, and Taylor is true to his game, he's a scorer, and he's got a mentality that will put up points in the league. Budinger had a great game 2, good touch from the perimeter, and athletic in transition.

Summer league: Rockets vs Blazers just ended. Rockets won 87-82 after blowing a 10 pts lead at half time. 4-0 in summer league. Ya i know this is summer league but found it interesting that the rocket team with no high profile player continue to win games. The highlight will show a lot of high profile player but rocket won the game. This may be a common theme in the NBA regular season too.

Chase Budinger continues to impress with his offensive skill. Definitely a good fit with the motion offense.
Dorsey continues to dominate the boards with 3 BS.
M. Lunnen played well too but don't think the rockets have a roster spot for him this season.
J. Whites seem to have the abilities to get to the charity line (10 times in this game).

latest article on the game 4 with specific emphasis on Dorsey:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/spo ... 31527.html
“Joey’s doing well,” Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. “We wanted three main things from Joey. We wanted a defensive presence. We wanted rebounding. And we wanted to cut out the mental errors.

“On the first two, he did what we wanted. He really impacted the game defensively and he really helped out on the boards in a major way. Mental errors, he probably has to cut those in half, but overall, a lot of progress from a tough first year.”

^^ nice

(That was pretty much exactly how I'd been looking at his performances, too)
Morey 2020.

Another victory for the rockets in the summer league. 5-0 perfection! :D

Dorsey continue to dominate the board. This time with 20 rebounds!! On top of that he has 5 assists!! and 2 block shots. Will claim a roster spot with that performance. :)

Chase Budinger continue to impress with his offensive stuff. I see him taking a roster spot for sure.

JT and White will have to fight it out if there is only 1 spot left for one of them.

David Thorpe has been twittering on the summer league. Finally he has some thing good to say about rockets, specifically on Dorsey and Budinger:
http://twitter.com/coachthorpe

# He has to do more, sure, but his shooting/scoring/driving game, when combined with a 6'7+ athletic package, is NBA leve labout 6 hours ago from TwitterBerry
#
I've never been a believer in Budinger. But I was probably wrong.about 6 hours ago from TwitterBerry
#
Dorsey now with 7 boards in 13 mins. Order is restored to this world.about 6 hours ago from TwitterBerry
#
Dorsey only has 2 rebounds in 6 mins. He must be furious.about 6 hours ago from TwitterBerry

FG% .681 3p% .727

Ridiculous. Those numbers may drop a little during the season ( ) but it looks like he'll be in the rotation immediately.

I'm impressed with dorsey and budinger so far. White is so clumsy sometimes. Theres only so much you can do with his athleticism without bball iq. Unsold on JT yet. I think von wafer is alot better than these guys, shoulda gotten him instead. Newley can shoot, thats about it, not nba ready. I'm watching a few mins of the laker rocket game. Leunen is just an experienced summer leaguer thats very average, but can shoot shoot some what. He'll be a below average nba player.

Chase Budinger was the starting SG for the 1st team!
SG -- Chase Budinger -- Houston Rockets

The Vitals: 5 games, 17.8 ppg, 68.1 FG%, 72.7 3-PT%

Budinger didn't do a whole lot outside of scoring the basketball for the 5-0 Rockets, but he was more efficient at that than almost any shooter in the summer league. Especially from the outside. His percentages (68.1 from the floor, 72.7 from deep, 94.4 from the line) were incredible, as he took a huge step toward securing a roster spot in Houston after sliding into the second round of the draft. His best showing came in Houston's finale against the Lakers on Thursday, when he scored 25 points by going 7-of-9 from the floor, 3-of-3 from long range and 8-of-8 at the stripe.

Joey Dorsey was the starting C for the 2nd team (Blake Griffin was C for 1st team)

C -- Joey Dorsey -- Houston Rockets

The Vitals: 9.8 ppg, 14.8 rpg, 2.6 bpg, 3.0 apg, 62.1 FG%

Dorsey's 2008 summer league ended in embarrassing fashion, when he earned a technical foul while in street clothes from the Rockets' bench. He was taken much more seriously in 2009 after scoring just a hair under double digits per game and leading the summer league in rebounding. His offensive game also looked more polished.

http://wildaboutazcats.com/2009/07/16/b ... -in-vegas/

“Offensively, he proved he can step right in and play now in the NBA, there’s no question about that,” said Rockets coach Rick Adelman who sat courtside for the game. “He’s a very smart player who knows how to play the game. We’re confident he can use that intelligence to become a better defensive player.

“The most important thing is he’s headed in the right direction.”

In the last nine years, only three players selected 44th in the draft have made an NBA roster. Ironically, one of them is potentially Budinger’s new teammate — Trevor Ariza, who is a free-agent acquisition of the Rockets.

“I definitely have a chip on my shoulder,” Budinger said. “I know I am better than (a second-round pick). I definitely have something to prove.”

Budinger can be more physical against guards. His height also allows him to look over shorter guards. Because of this, Adelman instructed Houston’s summer-league coach T.R. Dunn to try Budinger as the primary ball-handler in the fourth quarter against the Lakers.

On one possession, Budinger managed to drive by two defenders for a strong layup. He was fouled on another aggressive move to the basket. He did not turn the ball over, although he was matched against the quicker Terrel Harris (6-foot-5) on the perimeter.

“I was comfortable with it,” Budinger said of the decision to play him at point guard. “I know I’m not really a point guard. I didn’t play that at Arizona. But I know I can handle the ball and find people for open shots if they need me to.”

Adelman reasoned that Budinger’s court awareness would allow him to be efficient bringing the ball up the court.

“I think he handled that well,” Adelman said. “He made the right decisions and got the other players involved.”

Budinger as point forward? Interesting
