I think we can be a much better team then people are expecting. But Iguodala's gonna have to keep this ship floating in the Right Direction.
Iguodala's the Captain. And he's taken the role with stride. I got hope, how bout u?
I'm not as hopeful as you for at least this season, but I see your point.
In my head this season is about:
1 - Is Jrue the future at the point and how soon?
2 - Can Thad take the next step to be a CONSISTENT 20 PPG / #1 scoring option?
3 - Can Brand what we expected Brand to be and can he play a good deal of 5?
4 - Can Iguodala take the next step to be the leader on all levels of a good team?
1 - I'm very hopeful about Jrue. Probably irrationally so.
2 - I'm moderately hopeful about Thad though I feel myself coming back to earth about him.
3 - I'm fairly hopeful about Brand. I think last year was a fluke thing and I believe that the year off will ultimately put a little extra mileage on his legs.
4 - Iguodala's development is perhaps the most important and I'm just not sure there.
I've advocated dealing him for a young 2 (Fernandez), but I get why there isn't any enthusiasm to deal him. He is our best player and I don't think the description of "far and away" is too much of a stretch there.
(My impressions - Take with grain of salt): I think he's trying to lead and that's a good thing. I think that he believed he was further along as a player and a leader at the beginning of last season than he was. I think he got a wakeup call and is preparing more dilligently than last season.
And with all that...I'm just not sure he hasn't hit his ceiling and that we haven't seen the best from him.
