Tyrus Thomas and Jerome James would be just fine. We can flip James later w/ cash and a 2nd round pick or two to someone with cap space. Or we just take the hit. One way or another getting rid of Boozer isnt all about $$$. Its pointless to make Millsap wait a year to be the starter and to have Boozer here for a season when he is gone July 1 2010.

To trade Fesenko really makes no sense unless someGM out there is in love with him and offer us a trade we cannot refure with a huge player.
14+boards, 4+blocks were his stats per 48, and when he played not scrub minutes they were even better; he's young, huge body, kind of harsh, cheap... hell... why should we trade him in a Boozer package???

I think this is the correct approach to the Boozer/tax-relief issue.

I really think Utah's best bet is to look to Sacramento and get 4-5 million dollars in cap space along with Kenny Thomas' expiring deal. Sure it sucks value-wise for the Jazz, but ultimately it makes matching Millsap a lot more viable financially speaking.

Kings deal:
Kenny Thomas 8.5 million
2010 unprotected 2nd round

Jazz deal:
Carlos Boozer 12.3
Kryrlo Fesenko(added financial savings now.)

That's the type of trade the Jazz could probably get. That'd save them 4.5 million dollars and gets rid of Boozer without taking on any long term $$$.

I know from a basketball standpoint that deal sucks. But from a financial standpoint, it's probably one of the best options out there(if the Kings are even willing to take on that salary).

We know we are not gonna get anything great for Boozer. But it seems there are 5 or 6 teams interested in him. Whoever offers the Jazz more will get him. The deal you proposed seems to me like any of those 5 or 6 teams could also offer. We don't save that much and we don't get any talent back. I'd look for other offers.

What 5 or 6 teams are you talking about? Miami? Detroit? NY? Chicago? GS? Problem with all those teams is the MOST they could offer you for a Boozer swap is to give back only 75% contract level of Boozer. That's roughly only a 3 million dollar savings. The Kings are 6+ million under the cap, twice as much potential cap space to draw from.

IMO, the Jazz are in MORE need of financial relief than they are of cheap, young prospects. They're built to WIN NOW, especially after that Mehmet extension.

So who's a better trade partner here then?

Only Sacramento, PDX, and OKC are under the salary cap and the LAC having a significant TPE(7.5) as the main potential trade partners to give the Jazz what they need, CAP RELIEF.

Why do you assume that the teams interested in Boozer long term (not as a rental, as you called him), can wait and get him for free?? You think he's going to be signing for the MLE or something? Whoever has his Bird rights can give him the most, and on top of that, youre going to have to have tons of cap room to get him anyway, so not everyone can "get him for free" later.

Not free, I meant, without giving up anyone.

Bottom line here is pretty simple: Who wants a guy that can give you 22 ppg, 11-12 rpg, 3-4 apg on 55% FGs? Anyone?

Maybe people have forgotten, but this isn't Joe Smith or PJ Brown. This is a guy that can come in and win games for you, change your team, make an impact. At some point, a team will realize that and be willing to make a worthwhile offer. We may have to wait until the trade deadline for it, but the Jazz aren't going to just hand Boozer over for a protected 2nd round pick unless their financial constraints force them to. At this point, with all the evidence in hand, there is nothing to suggest that is the case.
