Boozer to Miami- thoughts?

Completely correct on the combining of the TPE with players. Someone on the Heat forums had suggested a TPE for Miles trade, with a Blount/Cook/1st Rounder for Boozer.

And again, I don't think Riley trades Beasley for Boozer. If it were Bosh, I could see it happening. But Boozer is an easy 2010 target for Riley if he really wanted it to happen. Boozer lives in Miami, and is friends with the Arison family. He can have both in 2010.

As stated above, you can't combine the exception and a player to match incoming salary.

Trade 2:

3.7M TPE for CJ Miles

This way the Jazz would save 5.43M right away.

Or if you want to save more money:

Trade 1: Haslem, Blount, Diawara, for Boozer, Harpring

Trade 2: 3.7M TPE for Miles

This way the Jazz save 6.84M, Would you do any of these deals?

The only problem is that the Heat are right on the edge of paying the luxury tax $69,830k salaries (as per espn) vs $69,900 luxury tax threshold. So would they be willing to pay the tax this year for Boozer?

Option 1: Haslem, Wright, Cook (11,349k save 1,308k)
Option 2: Haslem, Wright, Diawara (10,932k save 1,725k)

OR

Option 1: Blount, Wright, Cook + 2013 1st (12,216k save 441k)
Option 2: Blount, Wright, Diawara + 2013 1st (11,799k save 858k)

The Heat cant send a 1st rounder until 2013 as they owe a protected pick to Minnesota.

Trade 1B: Add Harpring ($6,500k) they would send James Jones ($4,330k save $2,170k)

Trade 2: CJ Miles ($3,700k) for TPE ($0 saves $3,700k)

Savings:
Trade 1A:..$1,725k (option 2)
Trade 1B:..$2,170k
Trade 2:....$3,700k
Total:........$7,595k

Unfortunately if we match Millsap we would still be over the cap and with not much else to trade to get under it.

Yes miami would pay the tax for boozer. Micky arison is the 2nd richest owner in the nba. He said if we can get an impact player. He is willing to pay the tax. I dont think iverson is the guy and thats y they arent going to sign him.

Jazz and Miami seem to be bad partners, since Miami has very little in the way of talent, outside of Wade and Beasley. I think a third team needs to be involved if Miami wants Boozer.

I've always loved Haslem. Back when Sap was a rookie, I always thought Haslem was a guy that Millsap could emulate... a slightly undersized, slightly overweight player who worked himself into awesome shape and averaging nearly a double-double. He's slightly older, but I think he's a great one-year rental/potential back-up for the future.

Without Boozer Miami is an first round playoff exit at best. With Boozer they at least have a chance to make it to the second round. All the other eastern teams are becoming much better. Miami is getting left behind.

Ya other then Haslem I don't see anyone of interest on Miami. Even Haslem isn't that intriguing, I agree a third team would need to be involved to land Utah better talent if they are going to land Booze in Miami.

Boozer for Beasley, Yakkydoobers, and Blount.

Blount is then sent to Detroit for a trade exception and what ever player might be necessary. I don't know how under they are now, but it gives them a Center.

Not true. The Heat own all their own future 1sts, plus a future 1st from Toronto (lottery protected for next 3 years, then unprotected).

The pick in the Minnesota deal you reference already took place. It was used on Ty Lawson.
