OT:Which is the most Amazing thing..?
A: That this team went from winning 24 games---to winning a title---to having KG/Pierce/Ray Allen....and RASHEED WALLACE on the same roster.....or:
B: That Tony Allen is STILL on this team ?
I say it's 50/50.

Re: OT:Which is the most Amazing thing..?
IDK, man--- winning that title is pretty amazing, but...
Tony has been on the team longer than anyone not named Paul Pierce. Thing is, I really liked the guy as a player but have lost almost all confidence in him over the past two years.
What would really be amazing is for Tony to have a breakout year and solidify that backup spot behind Ray and Paul. Can he learn to make better decisions, hang onto the ball, and hit a jumpshot?
THAT would be Amazing.

I really don't understand Danny's thinking when it comes to free agents. I don't think he's ever made a good signing. Rasheed doesn't count as his signing because KG practically gift wrapped that one and Paul etc gift wrapped P.J.. I guess James Posey would be a signing he actually worked for.
??? Kedrick Brown, Dan Dickau, Scalabrine, T.Allen, M.Blount, Mikki Moore, E.House, Dana Barros, Q.Woods, Ernest Brown, Tom Gugliotta, C.Borchardt, Kevin Pittsnogle, Akin Akingabla, Luke Jackson, Kevin Pinkney, Dwayne Jones, Olowokandi, Jackie Manuel, Scot Pollard, Esteban Batista, Patrick O'Bryant, Darius Miles ???
Don't worry Robert Swift, Danny has a fondness for stiffs.

Re: OT:Which is the most Amazing thing..?
LMAO. most of those guys were like TC fodder or 10-day guys. you expect every one to be an allstar?
i think DA's only obvious mistake has been Scal. and it's not that he's not useful, it's just that he's overpaid. i don't see how House is a mistake, he's won a fair number of games for us.
Tony is still a guy who is very useful when healthy. everyone keeps forgeting that his main problem isn't lack of talent, it's lack of health. i'm about ready to give up on him because of that, but let's not pretend like he's not a useful player once he is healthy and settles in.

Tony being healthy this season and getting some consistent minutes would have a lot of people eating crow, myself included to some extent. He's been a disappointment due to injuries but he has had flashes of brilliance when he has long stretches of regular minutes, if he could return to form this season we'd have a back-up wing better than any lle or bi-annual options out there. I'm rooting for him.

I'll take that dare.
Blount had a career year his contract year, played consistently and durably all season. He defended reasonably well, rebounded at a good rate, and started to show some of his jumpshot. Who knew that he would become such a lazy douche bag once he got paid? In retrospect it was a poor signing, but not because DA didn't make the right decision based on performance. Blounts douche-baggery was an unforseen x-factor.
Blount's contract year at 29 years of age: 10.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 57% fg, 1 stl, 1.3 bpg, played in 163 out 164 games over 2 seasons and was a reliable team defender. Big men were at a premium at the time even more than now and more than a few over-priced contracts were handed out around the league setting the bar higher than it should have been.

I just don't think they are worth even the peanuts they were given. What was the point in bringing in lousy journeymen like Dickau and Gugliotta when we were a rebuilding team? I would have rather developed the kids and save money. Taking out Mark Blount for a steak dinner so he'd resign with us. The guy wasn't worth a happy meal. I knew he stunk. I believe that was the year Indiana swept us in the 1st round and Blount was one of our only big guys. Unless you count Brandon Hunter as a big guy and I do not.
Last season he had a chance to redeem himself and sign some vets who would tag along for a title and he resigns Tony, Eddie, Sam Cassell and signs Mikki Moore. I didn't mind the Darius Miles signing, but he ended up waiving him for some reason.

Looking past the Big 3 era you'll notice that while DA hasn't made a big splash in FA previous to Rasheed he also hasn't handed out any long term contracts that will ruin the C's flexibility in rebuilding (i.e. James Posey in NO). Scal's is probably the worst of the contracts he's handed out and even that is overstated, Scal is a worthwhile guy to have on the bench and in the locker room and the contract wasn't all that big. He's using a similar model to the Patriots, try to get superstars where it matters and build around them through the draft and without over-paying role players.

Tony Allen is only effective when he gets a LOT of minutes....Problem is, when he gets a LOT of minutes---he gets injured....so he is USELESS.

that's fair enough defense looking at the situation from the outside but I have hard time to believe that there was they had no indication of his character. if he was the type who would quit on you when he got paid, you would think the coach and management would have had some indication of that. in short, blount's douche-baggery, as you put it, couldn't have been completely unforeseen.
one thing i would like to hear, though, is PP and KG joking and carrying on about blount. i am sure both are happy they don't have to play with slackers like that anymore and i bet they both have some funny stories about him.

Re: OT:Which is the most Amazing thing..?
Danny likes to bring guys into training camp that will "challenge" the end of roster guys , when in reality, they will not be sticking with the team anyhow. He brought in Dahntay Jones and Will Bynum, also, and they are both rotation players in the NBA. Dickau was pretty bad, but he got injured in preseason I believe. Players like Googs and Pollard are just minimum contract guys that will work their tails off and set good examples for the young guys on the team. It's funny that you would be critical of guys like that. How bout them Lakers for getting Adam Morrison in a trade...what were they thinking...stuff like that is so very shortsighted when you consider it was for salary cap reasons and not the talent.
Critical of Eddie House? Rasheed was a gift from KG??? Come on. It was the decision to not overpay for Posey that allowed the Rasheed signing to happen. Ainge is very shrewd and one of the better GM's in this league.
TA is a pretty good player. He always seems to be getting hurt or involved in gang like violence. No big deal.
