Could he be like an antoine carr? minus the bitchness of him compared to carr. I think there are better defensive PF's left. Some guys i wouldn't mind us looking at with the MLE in no order are:

Wilcox,Gooden,Klezia,warrick

Some guys i would consider for less then the MLE

Davis is a terrible fit for the Jazz, because the quickest way to get in Sloan's doghouse is to show up out of shape. Davis has never been IN shape, so why would we sign a guy that Sloan will hate and never put out on the court.

Giving Davis full MLE is crazy. He is not worth that much. 4 million is max I would be willing to give him but in reality 3-3,5 million is a fair deal for him.

And BOS isn`t trading Perkins. He is the best man-to-man defensive center in the league who is making 4 mio. He is a perfect fit alongside Garnett...

Detroit In: Boozer
Boston In: Hamilton
Utah In: Allen

The extra stuff just muddies up the entire deal, especially from Boston's end.

The problem in this scenario is Allen's salary is well above either Boozer or Hamilton so Detroit and Utah would have to add other salaries to get in the neighborhood (see the Trade Checker). Lining up salaries like this doesn't help Utah since they would actually be INCREASING their financial commitment in this scenario.

That is pretty much exactly who he is. The difference between Davis and Powe is that Powe was the more explosive player and put up big numbers but he could get caught in mismatches and was more of a situational player. Davis is a pretty solid man to man defensive center and does a decent job at the 4. He is not shot blocker or anything but that doesn't seem to be a trait Utah is crazy about in big men anyhow. He moves well for a big fella good ball handler and passer and has proven he can step up in the moment.

I hope Boston just keeps him but I am just trying to connect the dots if they aren't.

I don't think the Celtics would match a 5 year MLE offer, since they'd be paying luxury tax on the entire amount. Despite his nice performance in the playoffs, I consider him to be a borderline starter. I think his success as a starter had more to do with defenses not paying much attention to him. Off the bench, his stats are worse. I don't think the Celtics are going to give him MLE money to come off the bench now that they have Wallace.

Just for the record, Davis averaged 14 points and about 5.8 rebounds a game in the playoffs, while averaging 36 minutes per game......

Those are pretty good numbers for a guy who is thought to be out of shape and a career backup...... If we lose Millsap he is definitely somebody we should look at as a replacement....... If Nillsap is worth $8 mil a year after half a good season, as a starter, why wouldn't Davis be worth $5.5 mil after an excellent playoff run?

I'm sorry but I have to laugh at anyone who thinks Davis in Utah is a bad idea. He would be a perfect fit on this team. I'm not saying he is our starter and I'm sure he knows he never would be, but he would be the perfect kind of backup this team needs. Energy guy who hustles and plays his guts out, he would be an instant fan favorite and would fit into the offense fairly well due to his mid-range shooting developing and inside game. And your seriously going to turn down a young player who would like to play in Utah?

That was going to be my next point. When given the chance to play big minutes, in the playoffs nevertheless against better competition and game planning, he excelled.
