Magic fan, Whos your biggest threat?

Post#1 » by tranjSAIC » Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:45 pm

Seems like us Orlando fans and Cav fans have been trash talking a lot this off season. As the team that almost beat us last year even though you were down KG. We think your our biggest challenge in the east. Who do you guys think is your biggest challenge in the east for your team? Magic or Cavs? Also which team do you think has improved more.

No team.....imo......just health. No disrespect.... imo if we stay healthy the East returns.

ps.......The Sheed deal .....so far is the best deal.

I would say the Cavs are our biggest threat. They took us to Game 7 the year we won the title, and that team was basically a one man squad, LeBron. Now they got Shaq and Parker, which makes them a more versatile team. Not to mention the size in Big Z comin off the bench. The Magic, especially now without Turkoglu, do not scare me too much. I think we can play solid D on Dwight, sort of like the Lakers did in the finals. Since Dwight is one dimensional, he becomes less of a factor. And Vince? Ehhhh ...

Cavs.

They added Shaq for nothing. Got a decent player in Parker. No significant losses. Plus they still have Lebron.

The Magic added VC and Bass but lost Hedo, who was our biggest matchup nightmare. Also Gortat was underrated, always seemed to kill us.

What made Orlando deadly last season was the matchup problems they created. They were different from any other team, usually having 4 guys on the floor that can light it up from outside while D12 gobbles up rebounds in the paint. That was their gig, and they executed it well. Vince is a slasher and Bass is an undersized PF. I think Bass and VC are collectively better than Lee and Hedo, but they completely change the dynamics of Orlando and exactly what made them deadly last season.

Then again, Jameer is back, but I can't see Orlando being better than the Cavs. I don't think Shaq will be as big an addition as it's made out to be, but any team with Lebron is going to be good. I just hope every team is 100% healthy come playoff time. This will be a season of powerhouses.

Agreed. Barring all injuries we won't have much to worry about.

How could you possibly say that? We went through two game 7's when we won the title. And game 6's the rest of the way. Of course we have threats and teams to worry about. Otherwise, DA wouldnt be putting in so much effort to perfect the roster before the season comes around.

Shaq did it with Kobe, then he did it with Wade...I could see him doing it with LeBron. Of course he isn't as dominant as before, but on the other hand, LeBron is more dominant than Kobe and Wade(IMO) so that should make up for it. They still kept most of their good players..they are the ONLY threat in the EAST for us. Even though I still think we are alot better, if 100% healthy.

Those game 6s & 7s were a result of our inefficiency on the road. Of course there's always going to be a challenge here and there but I don't think its something you can worry about. If we had a healthy team last year we would have taken #18 aswell. Our greatest threat in the playoffs will be injuries or inefficient play taking into consideration we add more pieces to the bench.

He said Fakers sarcastically. Cavs and Magic will be challenging up to a point - BUT if KG returns to form, and with the addition of Sheed, and with deadeye Ray Ray, and the magnificent Paul Pierce, and a Rondo who penetrates at will and will shoot the J somewhat better, and hopefully a couple of other moves to deepen our bench - WE WILL BE PLAYING THE FAKERS OR the Spurs next June.

For the same reason that Magic fans will say BOS was harder in the East without KG then a healthy 66 win Cavs.

The Celtic board will exclusively say CLE rather then ORL.

Look no further then the D-12 v Perk and Sheed matchup.

ORL imo however has gotten significantly better. VC will work out fantastically, Bass will be a good player in spurts.

I think they'll find most success with the same style as last year but Pietrus at the 3 instead of Turk.

Then having Bass be a kick ass 6th man ala Pietrus of last year with Gorat holding the fort down defensively for D-12.

IF Magic don't get Gortat back... well then I don't see an argument for them over Cavs pending any free agent moves made for either team.

No offense to the Magic fans, but I think the Cavs are our biggest threat in the East. I think we matchup much better against Orlando then we do Cleveland. For example Perk and Rasheed play Dwight much better then they do Shaq and Ilgauskas.

I think ORL is a much bigger challenge. First they beat us so we need to be a threat to them. They have added much more than they lost now that they brought back Gortat. Bass gives them the toughness they were lacking. They will get a healthy Jameer Nelson (Boston fans like to conveniently pretend that he doesn't matter as much as KG) and their super star player has the most room improve of any of the stars on any of the contenders and perhaps the most ability to dominate.

I hate Wince and think it is a shame that they let Hedo go for him but barring the obvious injury concern he will be better as a primary perimeter scorer and secondary play maker even though he will hurt them defensively.

I am not a huge fan of CLE's moves this offseason. It isn't over and if they add a Gerald Wallace it might look different but they got torn up by Howard and decided to replace a very good defensive center with a very bad defensive center. Sure Shaq can still score but he is awful defenisvely and is going to be rocks in the backpack of their offense. How do you move Ben Wallace and get older? Parker and Pavlovic seem like the exact same player.

But the front courts of these two teams make a strong argument for bringing back Davis this thing is going to be won in the paint and fouls and drawing fouls will be key, that and you can't have enough shooters.

Cavs.

We match up perfectly with ORL. Perk (or Wallace) on Howard and KG on 120 million dollar man...it doesn`t get better than that.
