Adam Morrison Tearing up Summer League

Post#1 » by Magic Mamba » Mon Jul 13, 2009 8:56 pm

He is averaging 23 pts per game while shooting 55% from the 3 Point line and our 2nd round pick chinemelu Elonu is playing well too.

But the real point of this thread is too ask you whether or not Adam Morrison can be a an asset to our team in this upcoming season?

Discuss.

I think Morrison can help some team but not the lakers. They have no faith in him and why should they. They have some decent depth at that position so no real need to give him playing time. I like Elonu but the kid probably doesn't even make the team.

Good Point

but I feel that morrison can be our 3 point specialist... We already have enough perimeter defense with kobe and artest . If, we can some how find a way to get him into the rotation he could be a valuable piece of our offense. Just spot him up in the corner.

If any team can make Morrison not look like a scrub it's this Laker team.. They have at least two players that need a double team on their first and second teams. He'll get open shots the question is, will he take them cause the Lakers and everyone else knows he can make them. His biggest problem since coming over has been he is not aggressive and that's what made him a great player in college.

well he's certainly upping his value (if Mitch is planning on moving him) he could end up being a decent player but i don't think it will happen here. there isn't much of an opportunity for him

this team is loaded, and he's on the outside of the rotation looking in

I think Morrison can contribute in our rotation next year. He does have potential as a scorer.

He's not going to be a star or anything like that next year, but I think he's going to give us something off the bench.

He's too soft mentally to do any real damage when pressure is on. I say play him a little, raise his trade value a bit, than hopefully trade him for a nice piece

PJ gives people not associated as rookies their chance. He gave Josh his, Java his, God knows Kwame got his share, Mbenga got a lill bit, Yue didnt get much but hes a 1st year NBA and unknown, Mo Evans played after being a nothing with Detroit, Devean George got his share and now hes doing nothing in Dallas, Vladimir Radmanny even STARTED and now Ammo WILL get an opportunity to prove himself.

he'll play.

and knowing LA somebody gets injured every year for something.

i think he can definately help. you can never have to many shooters around kobe, gasol and bynum. he could be a better version of sasha
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

other than no D.. Ammo has been awesome thru his college years.. Just during the NBA when he was a franchise caliber player and not living up to it got to his head. Became all emotional and down.

Summer league is his chance to prove something since he couldn't do it during practive when we acquired him.. But unfortunately showing up and playing now may be too late. It'll increase his stocks but probably for trading purposes only. Who knows.. if he can continue doing this.. he may play a game or two for us hehe.

If he wants a future with this team he'd have to play back up 2 behind Kobe. Other than that I just don't see him guarding ant SF other than Rashard Lewis in the NBA. Just too skinny and slow imo.

He is a shooter and shooters tend to stick around in this league.
I don't think he will be in the Lakers longterm plans unless they trade Sasha.
He can then be a backup at the 2.
Sasha actually plays some D which I have not seen Ammo play much of.
It will be interesting to see what they do with him but as long as Sasha is on the team getting backup minutes at the , I don't see him playing much.

It's set-up for a trade mid season.

Lakers Trade
Adam Morrison
Sun Yue

to Houston in exchange for
Trevor Ariza

Deal cannot go through until mid December so we have until then to up Morrison's trade value :)

Fisher/Farmar/Brown
Bryant/Vujacic (also Brown/Ariza)
Artest/Ariza/Walton (also Bryant)
Gasol/Odom/Powell
Bynum/Mbenga (Also Gasol)

Pipedream FTW!

Given the Lakers shot 36% from the 3 last year I'm sure there will be a use for Morrison.

your aware that he shot 35% from 3 in college and is shooting 33.7% from 3 in the NBA right?
