Who is Phoenix's starting center? Is there any truth to the Sam Dalembert to Phoenix I keep hearing about??

Well now, the only way that is happening is if we traded JRich.

I'm thinking Philly would definitely do that trade for J-Rich.

No we're at the lux line and used most of the MLE. We can't sign anybody except for the minimum or bi-annual exception, which we could have used even if we traded Wallace.

This is a blatant example of trading value(huge expiring) which would make us better for money. They basically traded Shaq away for nothing. They might have well have just bought him off. Horrible move.

There is still a possibility of trading Sasha Pavlovic - as the article states. If they waive Pavlovic - you are right. But, if they trade Pavlovic and get a player with a nice contract - then that will add some value basketball wise to the Shaq trade

But Kerr always said the Shaq trade was a financial movie. I would much rather trade Shaq for Waalce/Pavlovic - as opposed to keeping Shaq and then trading a Barbosa to Memphis for a 2nd round draft choice in 2014.

Well i guess Dalembert/Chandler is not an option now!

You REALLY need to talk to your FO! Kerr has been looking for a home for JRICH for the past month. Im surprised i havent seen him standing outside a grocery store with JRICH in a cardboard box labeled "Free to a good home".

A GM's job is to get great or at least EQUAL value in return.

In a normal economy expirings like Lafrentz can get back a lot of talent or at least a 1st round pick. Those are washed up players contracts whose teams have no intention of ever playing them getting back that value.

In a horrible economy a 20 million dollar expiring contract of someone who flat out sucks as a player should net you at the very least some combination of 1st round picks.

I don't think Shaq was a good fit for this team but was still capable of being at least a top 15 center in the league. There's no way a huge expiring should net you only a 2nd round pick. When that expiring is putting up good numbers and is traded to a team desperate to get better for a late 2nd round pick it makes the trade even more ludicrous.

What's Philly's reason for moving Dally other than his big contract? From all the things I've been hearing, they just flat out don't want him for some reason.

So paying Shaq would have cost us $20mill in salary, plus luxury tax implications (assume we were around $8mill over the tax, that's another $8m right there) =$28mill.

Buy making the trade, we have the option of buying out both Wallace and Pavlovic for $11.5mill total, while keeping us under the lux tax threshold. Sure we would need to resign someone (Frye) to replace him but that only adds another $2mill this year, =$13.5mill.

So POTENTIALLY Making this deal and downgrading/ sidestepping from Shaq to Frye saves the team $15mill.

The question then becomes, would a Suns team with Shaq generate "$15mill worth of wins" more than a Suns team with Frye..?

So I guess they think Lopez is the real deal after the 1st SL game.

At least we didn't give up draft picks to save $8M this time.

Well, from what I understand.. Daly has low basketball IQ. We dont need anymore of that with Amare, JRich, and Barbosa on the team

Return to Phoenix Suns
