what about this past season were u completely wrong about? which mistake made you eat some fresh crow?


one of mine was shannon brown. i wrote this cat off the minute he stepped on the court. no shot, terrible handles, won't play more than garbage minutes til the lakers let him go on his way. man was i wrong,

another was my extreme confidence that luke would be able to contribute like he did during his contract yr. i think i even started a thread before the season about all the good things luke was going to do, how overlooked his contributions were, and how he'd make people laugh at the idea that his contract was a bad decision. damn you luke.

A few things:

I agree about your dissapointment about Luke.

I thought Sasha would actually become a credible backup to Kobe. He really did not improv as the year went along. We were not able to reliably depend on him as a shooter. Terrible diasspointment.

I hoped that Farmar would raise his game to another level, but he didn't. I still have hopes for him next year in a contract year.

In a pleasnant surprise, Lamar really stepped up and was a major contributor. I loved his game in the regular season and in the playoffs.

Barring his injury, my confidence in Bynum becoming a legitamite All-Star center in the West and him being our X-Factor in our run to the Finals.

Sasha's contribution I had a feeling he wasn't going to be as effective as last year with Ariza taking a bulk of his playing time, but he brought it down an extra level then what I had expected.

Farmar I thought would gradually keep improving every year but he took a step back this year IMO, I don't see why or how this had happened, other than I believe his game is elevated playing next to Bynum, and with Bynum being injured/not being on the floor same time as Farmar I think it played against Farmar this year.

I have so many.

1. Believing Sasha would actually IMPROVE from his contract year and be one of the best shooters in the league
2. Thought Shannon Brown was gonna be another Sun Yue like player; just garbage minutes in meaningless games
3. Odom would choke hard in the playoffs
4. The Lakers playing horrible defense in the playoffs and end with disappointment
5. Bynum would have a 15/10 season

I think you are beating yourself up on Luke unnecessarily. He didn't get consistant minutes and played well beyond last year in the playoffs as far as quality bball. Last year he was getting torn up all playoffs by athletes, he looked like he played well for the few minutes he got to me.

Only guy I really swung and missed on was Sasha, being such a knock down pure shooter last year to a bonehead I didn't forsee at all.

You guys should not be beating yourselves up on guys that got injured Bynum had a bad injury he was going to be an all star this year IMO, he almost made it still this year, because bigs are so scarce.

Actually in my opinion Vlad was consitent at what he was meant to do for us. Knock down the 3, I believe he was shooting it at about 45% for us throughout the season. In that aspect I believe he was consistent, everything else that is a different story. First half of the season Fish and Rad seemed like the only 3 point threats we had, both shooting over 40%.

The past two seasons I've had high expectations for Jordan to emerge as the starting PG and take over the reigns from Fish. But like someone said earlier he hasn't proven to even be coachable yet.

I thought Sasha would be our best 3 point shooter and he would be one of the top shooters in the league. Man was I disappointed about that one.

Jordon Farmar was going to be ready to take over for Derek FIsher. He ended up regressing in the progress he made.

Andrew Bynum was going to have a monster season. It was probably the biggest disappointment not because he failed to do it, but the fact that injury kept him from doing so.

If the Lakers are unable to retain Lamar Odom these 3 guys are going to have to step up for the lose. A healthy Andrew Bynum alone could be enough to somewhat repace Lamar. And we all remember howgood Jordon and Sasha were off the bench in 08 - 09. If they could do that for us it would also be easier to accept the lose of Lamar Odom and his impact of the bench.

I expected Shanon to do well.. we had so many garbage guards on the bench who could not make a shot or defend that i though for sure Shanon if he can play some level of Team D had a chance..
By the end of season he more than exceeded my expectation..

Farmar & Vujacic i expected more things..

Farmar i am still optimistic.. the dude can be the best passer on the team at times.. consistency can be a issue i think it has more to do with the kind of bench we field all the time..with Vujacic and Luke throwing up bricks..

I never bought in with Farmar, all those reports out of camp that he was tearing it up didn't phase me, I know the kid makes bonehead decisions every other time down court gameday . He just doesn't have "it". Like Sasha never misses in practice.

Farmar reminds me of me when I played pg on the blacktop as far as decision making ability at the 1, I'd make a great play and then mess it up the next time down court as all my buddies just shook their heads in shame...there is talent there, too bad he's too bball stupid to capitalize on it, lol.
