Tim Thomas bought out!

Post#1 » by BillessuR6 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 3:08 pm

Bulls.com columnist Sam Smith is reporting that Chicago reached a buyout with forward Tim Thomas which allowed them to find the money to sign guard Jannero Pargo.

If he comes for the minimum I would definitely be interested! Motivation is always a problem with him but if we can get him cheap I am all for it...

I know cfan is a fan... ;)

If he came here for minimum I would be all for it as well. And as weird as it sounds, it would make Scal ( :D ) more expendable.

I don't like him, but if we can't get Barnes or Moon, then I guess I'd settle for this guy, so long as it's only for the LLE.

He used to have a decent skillset when he was part of the Big 3 in Milwaukee. But that's diminished. The guy is done. He's nothing more than a chucker these days. We have no need for him.

Isn't that the same thing? I'm not a cap expert, so I'm not 100% sure.

It's a little bit more money. We can sign as many contracts to vet. min. deals as we want I believe. We can use the LLE on only one player.

And only a portion of the vet minimum counts against the luxury tax.

Phew... I have absolutely no idea how he is in shape right now. Didn't saw a lot of him against us during the playoffs. The Tim Thomas from Phoenix would be a nice addition for the vet min.

I personally dont really care for him. He's just a long range shooter and he cant cover SF's. We need a true SF. Ideally, Moon or Barnes
Paul Pierce said it best about Caron Butler and the AS 2007 Game:

"Caron Butler should send me flowers for being injured so he could make the All-Star game, because if I was healthy, he wouldn’t be in there.”

I really don't want Tim Thomas here, I hate his attitude. I'd rather just wait to see what shakes out between now and the deadline.

No. There is not one person in Boston that would still like this guy after he'd played 2 games for the Celtics.

On paper this might look good, but on the court this would be pitifull. Tim Thomas is a BUM. There is NO WAY he would beat out "our boy" Scal...in fact, I'd rather take my chances on a gimpy Leon.

Thomas would be fine off the bench, he is a good shooter and while caught between the 3/4 a little bit he can create matchups at either spot. At least he has length, if you want a guy who is long and can knock down the 3 and rebound a little he is your guy. Barnes is 6'7" and as bad or worse defender as Thomas. Moon would be my first choice of the 3 but he is likely going to command more money and from the sounds of it may not have head screwed on right.

The idea with the long SF is not so much about defending other SF's as it is about creating a match up that gets Pierce on a guard, Tim Thomas can do that for you.

I think I just pitched a tent. Picturing Tim Thomas in green gets me excited.

If you want to bring in Tim Thomas then you might as well bring in Antoine Walker. They both are similiar players at this point. Out of shape 3 point chuckers.

I remember pumping my fist when he came in for Chicago last season during the playoffs. Pass.

If only he was the player of 4 years ago when he was with the Suns. He was one of my favorite players. I'm all for him suiting up in green if it's for cheap and if he's actually able to play.
