i figured people would start to find flaws in the categories. good to make sure we get all these straightened out before we start.

answering some questions changing cats (any suggestions, lets hear them)

doc - yes you have to declare the category of the pick at the time you make the pick.
doc - one non rookie who didnt play any games in 2008-09 might include someone who was injured the entire year, someone who played in europe last season or could include a retired player. however the player must have played in the nba before, hence "non-rookie". does that make sense?
doc - israel will be included with international for this exercise.

will change the second round to include 2006.
will add south america in with international
will change height to 7'0" and over. (in some cases u may have to fill a spot with a total crap player if you decide to fill other spots first - if you wait too long to fill the under 6'0" cat u may be left with earl boykins). will also except official heights from fiba as well as as nba.com for international players who arent currently in the nba.

if i combine south america and internation it means we have one more category left. any suggestions? make it creative, one that one wont produce lots of stars, one that will have enough players to fill 12 teams.

one spot left, first to post on this thread is in.

definitely. that will be part of the strategy, deciding cat to use for players who are eligible for more than one.

So just to be clear....If a player is eligible for two categories you can only use them for one?

Some of theses categories are extremely sparse, I imagine that guys will be forced to select some obscure non-NBA players at the end to meet requirements like "Taller than 7'1" and "South-American born," although I guess that's the idea. (and it won't kill your team to have a scrub in the 14th or 15th roster spot.

Also, I need a definition of "player," and "coach" in the above. Can I draft say, Phil Jackson as my "player older than 35" and use him as my coach? Then turn around and select "Coach" Sam Cassel and use him as a player?

e4... i addressed some of your questions above. i changed the south america cat and the over 7'1 cat.

yes, the idea is that the teams shouldnt be 15 stars. ideally u should have a few stars, some good starters, some role players and some serious bench scrubs at the end.

coach is whoever you select to be the coach of your team. the coach is the coach not a player. sorry for the confusion.

yes, u can select sam cassell or phil jackson to be your "over 35" if you wish.

slam suggested a "knucklehead" category for the open spot. the criteria would be - one player who has previously been suspended by the league. there are plenty to choose from here. use google or wiki to confirm before posting.

regarding the selection process....

this will will like a fantasy basketball/football draft. no team can select the same player. the draft order will be random (u guys trust me dont u :) ) once we get 12 players.

draft will be done via this thread.

once it is your turn to pick you will have 12 hours to make a selection (hopefully it will go a lot faster than that, but i know we all have things to do). after 12 hours is up, the next person in draft order can go ahead and make their selection. the person who missed their pick can make their selection at any time after their pick has passed. this should help keep the draft moving in the event that somebody goes MIA for a few days.

if you arent gonna be around for several days, let us know. maybe u can send me a list of picks and i will select for you based on your list.

sound good?

what a shame, no flexibility for next rounds:)

I dont care about race but in this game I have to - as in Europe Hispanic/Latin wahtever you called it are usually considered as white - white means at least partially Caucasian in this game? probably non-issue only Lopez, Garcia and such could be relevant and I'm not sure about Bibby. Blake Griffin counts I guess and Kidd as well.

i guess Slam already has some steal in mind:) that would be a lot of searching:(

Pls make changes in bold in the first post.

Oh no I have already prepared 7-1 and higher guys list there are way too many just seven footers, I'll kill you!

Boykins is not that bad I could actually end up with a free roster space (and argue the team needs fleibility for a d-league call up):) maybe under 6-1 could be better (haven't researched yet but even DJ is 6-0 and not eligible this way). I guess there is not much more exact 6footers than 7-0 players.

As for new cat, I can only mke up some over/under per game in something else than points (to comliment less than 8 ppg cat). Maybe fouls, TOs, FT%. Or players transfered last year (inluding next year sophomores).

I have to ask again about that 35+ years old catagory. I have some players in mind nad ready to research more - I just want to know to which date they have to be older than 35? Today? By the end of next season? By the start of the season? I guess I'll find a player where it matters sooner or later.

yeah, i guess this could be a touchy cat/subject, so if anyone is offended by this let me know and i'll remove it. i just thought it would be funny to have at least one token white american on each team... every team needs an ammo. lol. garcia wouldnt count cause he was not american born, right?
should partially caucasian count? thoughts? i dont care either way.

yeah, i know you and way down south are in much different time zones, but hopefully 12 hours will be sufficient. u should have a good idea of when your pick is coming up. if you or waydown find 12 hours too difficult, let me know and we can revise as we go.

I'm taking Oden as my player over 35.

I don't care what any body says. No way he's 21.
