Denver sports talk radio said...

Funny with all the big news being talked about Boozer getting traded, 850 KOA here in Denver had Nuggets VP Mark Warkentien on today and they spoke breifly about the Jazz. He stated there are a lot of talks through the NBA about Kirilenko being traded. He stated he "sees the Jazz trying to deal AK as their top priority". The radio personality talked about Boozer and Millsap and the fact the Jazz might not have either of their PFs next season but Mark didnt really touch on that point.

That said could KOC be working an AK deal and have intentions of keeping Booz up to the trade deadline? Might all the Boozer offers be less then the Jazz are willing to take at this point? Any recent talks in land of Zion about Utah moving AK? I know there was earlier speculation but all the AK news seems to have died with the T-Mac deal.

Thinking about it if Utah was able to move AK to keep Sap they would be in a much better situation financially. Even in they kept Booz all year and let him walk at the end of the year as a FA the cap situation would be much better. If that happened they would have Harpring, Booz, and Kovers contracts all as expiriing for 2010-11. Plus they would have a good core with DWill, Okur, Sap, and hopefully Brewer as 2+ year contracts. Also moving AK frees up time at SF for Sap and CJ.

Thoughts?

P.S Mark also stated Portland will be better then Utah next season. He also thinks the few moves the Nuggs have done have firmed up their team as next seasons division leader.

I hope so. Trading AK verses Boozer is losing less production and probably getting back the same. If less, no big deal. AK should really be the one that everyone is tearing apart on these Jazz boards.

The latest news posted in REALGM.com wiretap about the Jazz having to possibly take out a loan of $10.3m to retain Sap makes me think they are really shopping AK more aggressively. AK's contract is to big and moving him as a cost cutter seems more sensible then moving Booz as a cost cutter.

Good points, I don't know what the reality is, but if I were to pick between AK and Boozer leaving based on fit, I would be trading AK. Boozer despite his weaknesses perceived and otherwise, he fits into utah's system very well. The very same system that we base all of our decisions on. AK, while a great player (I believe at least), no longer meshes with this team/system. So if we are just looking for cap relief, lets try and trade the guy we can't use.

Too bad AK is extremely valuable to the team right now. I would hate to see AK go especially when he is going to play a big role in how the team does this next season with the lose of either Boozer, Millsap, or both. Don't trade AK, not yet at least.

Jazz will have Millsap, won't have Boozer.

The Jazz may want to deal AK more than Boozer, but Boozer is eminently more tradeable. If they could I think they'd deal both of them.

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I still think AK is a valuable piece of this team -- even the X-factor that could be the difference between them being the 8 seed and winning the NW division next year. He's clearly not worth his money but aside from the T-Mac deal I haven't seen many trades for him that make sense.

I would think that they do because I doubt a team just has 10.3m sitting around. That would be fairly unwise. I would imagine that the loan would be a short term loan so that they can move assets around. It wouldn't be one of financial troubles.

That seems highly uninformed to me. The NBA extends every team a line of credit, so the idea of them going to a bank is kind of laughable to me. Maybe there's something to it, but it sounds like the bi product of head-in-the-sand SLC media yet again.

We'll see.

As for trading AK, I think it's a hopeless task. The Jazz aren't going to give away assets to make someone take him, and he is a very valuable piece of our team, even if he is way overpaid. My problem with the idea is that we are trading one of our few defensive players and exacerbating the problem we have on defense by doing so. Unless we find a sweet heart of a deal, it ain't happening.
