Players the contract of Pavlovic could equal
Just some names where salaries would match and there's an outside chance of movement:
Ronny Turiaf (GSW) - $4.1 mil this season and $4m next. Golden State would save $6.5 mil by trading him for Pav's contract.
Nick Collison (OKC) - $6.2 and $6.7 mil. Because of the savings, could add Tucker for their TPE in a different move and get our old #1 back. The net of Pav+Tucker for Collison would wash this season, but cost us $6 mil next season. OKC would save $9 mil in the move if they cut Pav.
Jeff Foster (IND) - Like Collison by the numbers (6 and 6.5m). Could maybe swap Tucker for Brandon Rush (or Diener) as well. Would cost some cash ($6.5m next season), but it *may* be worth it to move Pav + Tucker for Foster+Rush+future pick. Would have to be separate deals though (can't package Pav).
Reggie Evans (Tor) - Similar contract to Turiaf. Toronto is hardpressed for cap space after Turk and would jump at a chance to shed a little cash. We would add $5 mil to next season for him (steep). Would prob get a pick back.
All in all, a pretty crappy set of option. I like Turiaf the most, but I'm not sure Golden State does it (even with the cash savings). It seems like a min FA may end up being the only option. Anyone else have ideas? I don't think we can package Pav + a player, but I'm not sure.

Pavlovic can't be traded with another player until the end of August(two months from the date of initial trade).
Like you said, separate deals could work.

No to taking on any 2010/11 salary for an expiring. Therefore, no to all those options. + no way Indy throws in Rush to dump Foster, they actually like him. IF they do dump Rush, I'd do it.

COLLISON. not a shotblocker, but really can rebound and box his man out, and is strong enough to guard opposing Cs...

If we wait until August 25th, we could do Pavlovic for Kurt Thomas and Filler (Malik Allen?)
KT's contract is expiring in 2010, so he wouldn't hurt us in the 2010 FA market either, while being good fit here and providing mentorship to Lopez.

Yeah, I'm not sure any of these deals are worth it. Maybe we hope a guy like Petrov or Wilcox would be interested in a 1-year deal with the idea they play well and end up with a piece of the 2010 FA pie. That's probably our best bet.
The only thing I can see us doing with Pavlovic is combining him in August with either Barbs or Richardson for a larger contract (maybe expiring). The point of this was to show how putrid the "$5 mil" bigman options were via trade. When a completely washed up Kurt Thomas is "appealing", I think we're better off taking a flier on a FA.

How about Luke Ridnour?

I would take Turiaf and compete, but GSW will not get rid of him.

Re: Players the contract of Pavlovic could equal
i keep seeing barbosa's name pop up. why would the suns trade barbosa? he's their go to guy off the bench, doesn't really cost a lot, and the suns wouldn't get nearly his value back in a trade. i think he's also pretty popular with the fans and people would be pissed if he was traded off for some half-ass player.

Re: Players the contract of Pavlovic could equal
I think the Suns won't take a bigger contract for Sasha. Remember the Suns are trying to avoid the luxury tax so any contract that is bigger than Sasha's is automatically void.
I think the Suns will end up keeping Sasha for a part of the season. Although I would like if Tim Thomas signed with us, than we could cut Sasha and see what our salary is looking like.

Pavlovic and Tucker for Ridnour works after 90 days. We get serious about the backup PG spot, and MIL saves money to resign Sessions, and opens up time for Jodie Meeks. MIL would do that I think. He is also an expiring, which would be great.
Now to find a taker for Richardson that might save us money and keep us playing well.

Ridnour has horrible defense, and reminds me too much of Nash. The thing with the bench is, they should provide something that the starters don't provide, and Ridnour is basically the same product of Nash. I'd rather the Suns keep their confidence in Dragic than go out and get another PG. Unless its a PG that offers something different to the table (Bobby Jackson maybe).

No sweat, Grumps. I've done the same thing and so have many others. My best was rearing up on my hind legs and calling someone out on something someone else had said several threads over .....

Re: Players the contract of Pavlovic could equal
A New Jersey fan mentioned Keyon Dooling. He has two years left, but he is a good three-point shooter. We could also still save money as his cap number is about $1.5 less than Pavs.
Alston was another possibility, but his shooting is terribly suspect. Ridnours isn't great either, though.
How about Pavs for Kwame Brown. Kwame has been playing decently recently and his contract number is good. I don't know that DET will part with him, but they might.
Another option might be Pavs and Tucker for Milicic. He's a big man who can shoot and play outside, sclearing plenty of space for Amare. He can also block shots.

I would do KT or Turiaf in a heartbeat. I am very content with taking on salary if its turiaf
