Nocioni or Garcia?
I'm sorry if this has been discussed already but how about either of these Kings players for a TA/Scal/Pruitt combo? Kings seem to need some financial relief. Thoughts?

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
I don`t see us paying that much for bench players...
Garcia has 5 years remaining and Nocioni 3. Too much for us, IMO...
Code: Select all
Francisco Garcia $5,800,000 $5,500,000 $5,800,000 $6,100,000 $6,400,000
Andres Nocioni $7,500,000 $6,850,000 $6,650,000 (TO) $7,500,000

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
Nocioni would be a great fit coming off the bench for us. He's hard nosed, tough, defends, and can knock down the 3pt shot.
Garcia- No thanks.
At the end of the day I don't think Ainge would bring either one of these guys here because they both have 3+ years remaining on their contracts.
Pass.

Well, Sheed is here for three years. Nocioni's contract would line up with that..

i'm all for nocioni at the back up 3 spot for us. he is a perfect fit imo. tall, decent defensively and can shoot. if we can get him for TA/scal. we should do it.

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
If we were choosing between the 2 I'd take Nocioni, solid roleplayer. I'm with the thought that his contract is too long though and I'd also have to throw in too large. If we were going to take on that kind of crappy contract we might as well bail NO out of their Posey mistake.

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
Noc would be ok. Although I thought he was a good defender, but his opp PER is 23.9... yikes!
Garcia... pass.
edit: come to think of it, if we're going to pay all that $$ to Noc, i'd probably rather bring back posey. and i don't want to bring back posey.

I honestly think I would take Nocioni over Posey at this point. I really like Nocioni..

Yeah I'm curious how much of that defensive struggle was a result of the team he was on (Kings). He was decent in Chicago's scheme..

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
what about T. Allen + JR Giddens for Damian Wilkins?
We need to solidify our bench with role players. I don't like Tony Allen. He's out of control on the court...and I think JR is below Billy Walker on our depth chart.
TA goes back to OKLAHOMA and they take a flyer on Giddens.
In return we get a solid 2/3 who is athletic, defends, and is more established in this league.

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
I'd be MORE than happy to do a Nocioni for expirings type deal with the Celts. Maybe with some cash going Sacto's way(they're kinda into that thing right now). As for Garcia, HELL NO. Garcia means much more to the Kings than any other team and a salary dump, isn't going to be enough to grab him. As for Nocioni, YES I think a contract dump that nets a big man and/or PG could defintely be useful.
Nocioni
for
Scal/Allen/Pruitt/cash-probably ~1 million to cover a Pruitt buy out)
looks like a solid trade for both.
Celtics:
C: Rasheed, Perkings
PF: Garnett, Davis(r/s)
SF: Pierce, Noc
SG: Allen, Giddens
PG: Rondo, House
Kings:
C: Hawes, Scal
PF: Thompson, Brockman, Thomas
SF: Garcia, Greene, Casspi
SG: Martin, Allen
PG: Evans, Beno, SRod, Pruitt(could be waived potentially).
Looks good for both teams IMO.

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
i wouldn't even give up TA for Wilkins. he's brutal. he doesn't actually have an NBA skill.
and then JR on top of that? frankly, i'm not even sure i'd trade JR for wilkins.

Actually I like Nocioni a lot as well, but with a similar contract in Posey I'd take Posey back just because he is a known quantity when it comes to meshing with this team. Nocioni would be an interesting spark off the bench though.

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
then Ainge can go out and sign a veteran big with the 1.9 million we have.
Joe Smith?? Who else?
Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG, Perk. Bench: Pruitt, House, Wilkins, Wallace, Free Agent. 9-12: Walker, Scal, Hudson. Street clothes: Swift, Keep a roster spot or 2 open.....
Thoughts?

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
Absolutely want Nocioni. I think we should have pulled a deal for him when we had the chance at the trade deadline. I'm happy to see that Danny is clearly at least interested in him. Nocioni is going to be very productive the next three years of his contract so the length doesn't bother me considering Sheed will also be up in three years and we'll have a solid amount of money that offseason, when the time comes. Nocioni would be exactly like Posey for us. Back up Paul at the 3 and even play a little 4 if we want to go with a small lineup. If we can do a S&T with Baby for a solid backup PG, then find a way to land Nocioni through trade with some of our expiring contracts and a little bit of cash, and maybe even a protected second rounder, we would have a very successful offseason IMO.
Perk / Sheed
KG / Sheed/Noc
Pierce / Noc
Ray / Eddie
Rondo / (trade for Baby)
If all were to stay healthy that is a great championship squad. Get it done!

That's not too bad.
How about expand it to give us Sergio (we need a true backup PG), and you get your choice of Walker or Giddens. Still works under the cap.
You free up $2mil in payroll, get a nice young SG/SF, and keep Pruitt around as a 3rd PG (he's actually an interesting player). Plus dump Noc off your books for the next 2 years.
We get a backup PG with actual NBA exp, and a vet backup at the 3/4 spot.
As for cash, you should be giving us cash to take on Noc's bad deal. But whatever, Wyc and the Maloofs can pass around the money. Maybe they can just give Wyc a nice fat credit at their casinos

Re: Nocioni or Garcia?
Garcia hands down. Nociono is terrible. He's too slow to guard 3's and too small to guard 4's. Nice hustle and energy guy, but why pay 7+ mill a year for New Scal when we already have
Scal Classic at 3 mill (which is also overpaying).
What we're looking for in the backup 3 is a guy who can either create his own offense on the second unit or give Pierce a break from having to guard the other team's best perimiter player while being a spot up shooting threat. Garcia can at least get it done on the offensive end, while Nociono does neither and has a terrible contract. No thanks to Nociono.
