If you can get them to do the trade with your version, then I want you for GM ; )

Don't like it at all regardless of the picks. Wallace has 4 years and 38M on his deal. I like Wallace, but he gets banged up a lot (just like Marvin). The killer is Diop. Diop has 2 years on his deal at about 13.5M. That's paying above retail price for a big. I want a defensive big, but he's making at least twice as much as his production can remotely justify (that's a generous appraisal).

Sorry, I didn't check Diop's salary. I don't do the deal either.

I would do it with my eyes closed.
All we need to be competitive is a legit 7 footer who can block shots, put his weight on somebody's back, push, close the way to our basket... Desagana can do that..although he cannot do many more things, I reckon... but he can try to contain the likes of O'Neal and Howard.
Wallace is a far better player that Marvin. He is almost a star, although we would no need another undersized PF in this roster. But I would use him at the three spot.
With Wallace, JJ and Crawford we would have a tripple threatt for our rivals.
Forget about the money. If the owner is willing to commit, I would do it. Also we are getting a better pick than the one we own.
Or are we going to sing LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Shaq or Amaré next summer by saving now...?

You're right, screw the money. Wallace is better than MW and Diop is huge.

That price tag means paying the luxury tax. That is a real difference to ownership. To make that commitment it better mean that it legitimately improves our odds of going further. I don't think Diop and Wallace do that. Over the last 4 years Gerald Wallace has missed more games than Marvin and isn't as good at shooting the 3. With another summer of work Marvin may have catch Gerald Wallace in other aspects. Diop in his 14 minutes a night has not proven to be prolific at anything. Not rebounding, not blocks, and we need not talk about offense. He's a 7 footer but doesn't contribute much more than Solomon Jones on the floor. That's not enough help to risk the financial soundness of the club.

i still don't know. I live in Dallas and am a big mavs fan as well and diop is complete trash. ESPECIALLY at that price, let HMFFL tell you that. Gerald Wallace isn't really an upgrade over Marvin either, and he can't shoot very well. For our offense to be successful we need shooters. The only way i do this trade is if Marvin absolutely refuses to play here and we have to S&T him.

+1

then they could drop Diop from the swap (say that 3x fast)

I'd make Crash wear one of those SlamBall helmets before I let him loose on the court, though. Relative to Marvin, I think he's had like 8x as many concussions so far.
