Halladay to start at All Star Game?

Post#1 » by Geddy » Mon Jul 13, 2009 4:32 am

ST. LOUIS -- It appears Roy Halladay will start for the American League in Tuesday's all-star game.

An all-star supplement in Sunday's St. Louis Post-Dispatch featured a starting lineup card for the Midsummer Classic listing Halladay in the pitcher's spot for the AL, and San Francisco Giants star Tim Lincecum for the National League.

Did the paper jump the gun, or was it just taking an educated guess?

A source tells The Canadian Press that Halladay has indeed been asked to start and accepted the invitation, although he had yet to get a final answer about his status.

Full story

With Pedroia out we might actually see two Jays in the starting lineup, and both are deserving of it.

I've heard this reported as well, and I think you're right about Hill Hill is starting in the place of Pedroia.

Kind of sucks that all the talk around the all-star game right now is about Halladay being traded. I guess that's what happens when your team sucks and is about to trade its best player. It's going to be difficult seeing this team without Halladay but I hope that he finally gets a chance to compete.

agreed, he must be so annoyed of it as well.... it's really sad that what JP said has really changed the media perspective of everything..

but this is a great moment for Jays history.... props to Roy!

Best part about the two Jays starting.....I get to watch the beginning, and then tune off when they leave the game. Do you guys actually watch the all-star game?

Interesting. Well, at least we get to see him finally start the All-Star game as a Blue Jay.

But the irony is that all they'll talk about is what he can do for other teams.

Yes. I finally get to cheer for a team that usually wins.

Yup, as expected, when they flashed up Halladay warming in the pen, they referred to him as a guy who may not be pitching for the Jays by the end of the all-star break.
