Screw that...we need some floppers. I wish Jamison's non-defense playing ass would flop...that would probably be his most effective defensive tactic.

This would be a decent move. Oberto isn't all the good, but he's plenty capable of being a fifth big. He plays some defense and doesn't force offense, which is good enough for me.

Let me put this as simply as I can for all you morons ... its harder to make a shot against someone with long hair... Couple Oberto and Miller and the Wiz have two of the longest-haired players in the league ... without shoes Oberto's hair measures at least 14" from scalp to end...add in the grease factor and our opponents will be slipping all over the floor ...Now if that still doesn't clear things up for you, nothing really will. Oberto gives us the length we willl need in the play-offs to compete with the likes of Varajao... If Dirk Nowiski is trying to block your shot and he raises his hand in your face...you are going to miss the shot because your vision will be impeded by his hair...its simple physics...why do you think Steve Nash's game has fallen off since he cut his hair?...same with ginobli, iverson, the list goes on... etan's game went all to hell after brendan ripped his dreds out...

Plus it satisfies the token white guy on the basketball team.

Who else is possibly interested in Oberto? As a Plan B, perhaps?

Well, if we're talking about signing him for the vet-minimum, then I suspect that nearly every playoff-caliber team would be interested in him. It never hurts to add another capable player if you're paying him a minimum salary. (The NBA subsidizes the pay of minimum salary vets. He would only cost $825K against our cap, the luxtax, and Abe's wallet; but we could actually pay him $1.1M, with the league picking up the additional $300K.)

If we're talking about signing him to an LLE-sized deal ($2M a year for 2 years), then a lot fewer teams would be interested. Most teams that have an eye toward 2010 free agency (Houston, New Jersey, Phoenix, Chicago, Miami) would definitely balk. And teams already paying the luxtax (San Antonio, Orlando, Lakers, Cleveland, New Orleans, Denver, Utah) might not be so enthusiastic either. If we offer $2M a year, I think our only real competition would be the deep-pockets of either Dallas or Cleveland; and Cleveland doesn't need him.
