The reviews from summer league have Williams as a real head scratcher.
All the talent in the world, fantastic pg who just doesn't care about D and still decides to take some very average shots although he is a great passer.

I watched him in the Knicks/Memphis game tonight. He looks to be in good shape and has got game. Hard to say about his D. It's summer league, after all.

Re: Former Uconn Huskie Marcus Williams
He's never going to be great defensively.
But he's an NBA point guard. You don't luck into 17 assists, summer league or not.
As for his attitude, I see Sully drawing a conclusion from the fact that he didn't play in GS -- and I have to say there's no basis for that. GS acquired him over Nellie's objection. Nellie put him on the bench (because MW didn't "fit the style of play") and kept him there. It had nothing to do with his attitude. When GS let him go, Nellie had very nice things to say about Williams. If he was being disengenuous, we would have heard something about it.
Now, the guy did steal a laptop. And I've read some of his Tweets that made me think he's got some maturing to do emotionally. But he's not a locker room cancer.
I think Memphis is likely to sign him to back up Conley.
