There aren't going to be updates because it's probably when they get some time off. I remember last year Wizard fans were complaining that Ivan wasn't giving any updates when there wasn't much to talk about other than Juan Dixon and Dee Brown signings.

From the sports bog:

"Wizards to WJFK

With WJFK 106.7 set to turn to a sports-talk format before the end of the month, the CBS Radio-owned station has started collecting sports properties. First up were the Wizards; their games will appear on WJFK for at least the next two seasons, multiple industry sources confirmed today. WJFK remains in negotiations with other local college and professional franchises."

Sweet! I can listen to the zards on my mp3 player, which has fm radio in it.

Nice, I'd also expect the Junkies -- who are now once again re-re-branded as the "Sports Junkies" -- to talk their fair share of Wiz. I think two of them are pretty big fans, it will be smart to hype their station's property, and it's a way to distinguish them from Skins980.

A look at 3 players from NBA history who performed at a high level, missed virtually all of 2 consecutive seasons due to injury and then returned to action.

I think his scoring will likely take a hit. However if he his focus is more on playmaking and defense that may not be all bad. While it would be great for him to return completely to form, even a 85 to 90% of his former self will be a vast improvement.

Even if Arenas comes back at 70%, he's still an improvement over what the Wiz ran in the backcourt last season.

- Arenas 70% -- 16.8 (PER)
- Lg. Avg. -- 15.0
- Young -- 13.1
- McGuire -- 10.8
- Antonio Daniels -- 10.8
- Crittenton -- 10.3
- James -- 9.9
- Dixon -- 9.3
- Dee Brown -- 7.8
- Stevenson -- 6.9

I think a subtle distinction between Arenas' injury and the injuries of Hill, King, etc. is that Arenas' injury wasn't really a single, serious injury with a two-year healing period. He would have been back in just over one season if he and the medical staff were a bit more careful in the rehab. Instead he reinjured it (and had a third surgery to clean up the debris). Essentially, it was two injuries.

That's reason enough to like the Miller and Foye acquisitions.

Sure, if you think the Wizards are willing to pay up to keep both next offseason, AND keep Haywood as well.

I think Arenas' health, addition of a guy like Curry and further development of Young & McGuire would have been a big upgrade in the backcourt on its own and a far less expensive and more sensible choice long term.

Nice to hear about the Wiz making an offer to Oberto...from a San Antonio newspaper. The bungling local hacks are scooped yet again. What a surprise.

Dan Steinberg is posting prolifically on the Wiz during Mike Lee's time off. Steinz knows a lot more about hoop than he lets on when he's blogging about sports whimsy. He's a good writer too. He's posted a few Wiz stories on the Bog, written a couple for the paper and addressed a bunch of Wiz stuff in his chat today.

Wiz story on Hoopsworld:

When the Washington Wizards rebuilt their roster around Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison, and Caron Butler, it seemed that group was destined for greatness. Head coach Eddie Jordan fostered a special chemistry between his three stars, and their first year together they made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Wizards looked like a team poised to dominate the league for years to come, but injuries took their toll, the team struggled to stay above .500 and lost in the first round of the playoffs in each of the next three seasons . . .before a 1-10 start in 2008-09 finally cost Jordan his job.

A lot of Jamison talk there, with - of all things - a call to bring Starbury to the 'Zards! Zounds!

The Wizards aren't finished dealing, and there's even been talk that they could add Stephon Marbury to the team. That's a prospect Jamison finds very appealing.

"There are certain guys in the league that have an established reputation and you know what they can do, that they bring it every night. Steph is one of those guys. I've known Steph since high school, and the things that he's accomplished as a person and as a player speak volumes. He's one of those guys that can't do anything but help the team out and make it a better team."

Hmmm, does anyone remember us making the Eastern Conference Finals? I'm a little foggy on that one....

Maybe it's a Freudian Flip, I mean slip, about what they figure is coming this year.

Someone should get on printing the T-shirts already.

Yeah, Eddie made it to the EC finals; he got good seats too, from what I hear.

I MISS Arenas' blog. I've always looked forward to reading what he had to say. :(
