according to hoopsworld, training camps open in 78 days. Not sure if there is much available before that?

Interesting. Guess Sammy just felt comfortable that if he made a mistake, he would not be yanked.
Sammy enjoying that kinf of freedom sounds just about right, happy-go-lucky guy that he is![]()
So, what is next? Is camp next up for the Sixers, and when does it start?
Dalembert has shown that he is an uncoachable Albatross, doesn't matter who coaches him. If he doesn't play a minute next year the team will be improved. Addition by Subtraction.
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

no. not true at all. dalembert might be a pain in the butt and hard to watch but we need his presence in the middle. he is the only center we have.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sixers were sold in the next 3 years. There were rumors about it a year or so back.

Yup, there were rumblings back in 06 that they were in the market. If I remember it right one of entity in the running was the group made up of Will Smith and Dr J. At that time, just on top of my head, the Sixers was worth an estimated $356M. I could be wrong with the figure. I wouldn't mind a new set of owners, as long as they are committed to win something would work.

Re: Tom Moore 2.0
If the Sixers don't work out a sign-and-trade for Miller in which they get another point guard back, here are some possibilities for the role of veteran 1s:
Anthony Carter
Jason Hart
Bobby Jackson
Juan Dixon
Jacque Vaughn
Anthony Johnson
All but Johnson are unrestricted; Johnson is making $2.1 million in the final year of his contract.

I just get the feeling that the ownership is just bored with this franchise and every year they seem more and more apathetic and distant. I think running the Sixers has become more of an annoyance than it has being fun and competitive and about business.
I think once the business end totally hits the fan, and it is headed that way right now in a hurry; then they will look to sell the team. That is why I gave it a 3 year window.

Re: Tom Moore 2.0
They looked into selling last year. I would not be shocked to see this sold or even moved. The team is an afterthought in Philly. I realize they don't win much, but other teams generate interest even when they lose.
Honestly, the if the team moved tomorrow most basketball fans would just follow the college teams. Its not really a rabid NBA town, and never has been. AI changed that for a few years, but looking back (over the past 40_ years) sold out games have been the exception. Even during the Doc-Moses and Barkely years they did not routinely sell out the arena.
I'm not saying individula fans are less passionate. Just that the numbers of passionate fans are less compared to other Philly teams and other NBA cities.

Re: Tom Moore 2.0
I just think we have poor luck, and bad mangement:
We traded:
Wilt Chamberlain
Charles Barkley
Allen Iverson
And a bunch of other productive players, we often got old and injured making the lottery far many more times then we did the playoffs.
Let's face it, the only good memories of the last 30 years of the Sixers are:
The Sixers/Celtics rivalry, even if we lost more of them then we won.
1983 Ship
Allen Iverson.
That's it! This organization has been ran into the ground since it moved into Philadelphia,.

I think fans would be furious. The team would never be moved, it is a historic franchise. This town was a rabid basketball town in the 80's and for most of Iverson's tenure it was as well. But it is hard to stay rabid in a league that is just so awfully ran and with such an awful CBA. It's like you get a 5 year window to truly contend, and if not you suffer for 10 years. It is such a horrible trade-off.

Re: Tom Moore 2.0
I was just reading about the summer leagues on ESPN and they were saying that Quincy Douby is lightening it up and could be available. He can really shot. He could be good shooter to get for the Vet min. Plus he is kinda of local guy as a RU alum.
All-Vets & Journeymen Team
Quincy Douby (TOR): Douby has been working hard on his game, and his effort is paying off in Las Vegas. He's shooting the ball efficiently from distance, racking up assists, and keeping turnovers to a minimum. Toronto may not have room for him in their backcourt, but his 19 points per game on 61.1 percent shooting should catch someone's attention.

Do you think the Sixers should consider Jason Williams for thr 10-year vet minimum ($1.3 mill or so)? He wants to play again after taking a year off.

At least he knows the Princeton offense. Not sure he's great to have around the young players.

He's 34 with a career 2.7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Guess it depends what the other alternatives are. Ronnie Price re-signed with Utah and looks like C.J. Watson will be back with Golden State.

So is the fanbase, unfortunately.
I'm not particularly thrilled with the Sixers "stepchild" status down at the Center.
The Flyers appear to have flexibility and commitment and of course that extra million dollars when they need it.
The Sixers don't get their own summer league team in Orlando and are sitting out Vegas.
It's just not a healthy perception for the team.

i could be totally wrong here, but i thought when the raptors picked him up last year on 2 10 day contracts that they then gave him guaranteed money for this year... so i don't think we could just pick him up.
Also, I made a trade idea in the the trade thread... but i'm not so sure Watson stays with GS... I mean they have 14 guaranteed money deals on their roster + Watson. And Nelson loves to grab one or two undrafted players and turn them into gems(morrow) or at least try.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were interested in a 2 for 1 type trade just to free up a roster spot, hence my A Miller for Azubuike/Law trade

As for C.J. Watson, the Warriors' owner said Watson would compete for the starting job. I agree that they're overloaded at the point.

I just can't see Ed being done at this point...bigger question is does he make a big splash either with a full MLE player or significant trade, or do we just get a few min players and move on?? There are players in the rookie league who can shoot if nothing else...I'm very interested in seeing who occupies the final roster spots.

I really don't think the Sixers will use the full MLE because they don't believe there's anybody out there worthy of it. Unless there's a sign-and-trade for Miller that brings a point guard, I believe the Sixers will add a minimum-salary 1, 3 and 5, and that's it.

Hey im just a regular old sixers fan,Their not an elitie team but thats my squad.Their is an old saying that you have to be born to play PG.
1. Im overly concerned that our first round pick has a ceiling simalar to Royal Ivey,
2. That their will be no mentor to show him the intracate nuances of the PG position.
3, Im hoping Ed,s patience can net us some type of stop gap with upside..... Felton, Sessions,Farmer type of player. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the Mike Redd discussions can be revisted.
