Barn(es) Door Closing?

Post#1 » by Dogen » Wed Jul 15, 2009 11:57 pm

Orlando is throwing money around like it's going out of style, may open the season with a payroll in excess of $80 million, and they may not be finished spending as sources say they could be closing in on a deal with Matt Barnes. Here are some notes for today:

DA better make his mind up on a Pierce backup because the FA pool is drying up.

If they wanted his guy we would have heard about it by now. Danny must have another idea.

Yeah I don't think anyone acquiring Mr. Barnes is a legitimate reason for bridge jumping...

...off or on.

DA's not interested because Barnes simply isn't that good and is an absolute dirty thug on the basketball court to boot. The funny thing is that if Barnes signs with Orlando every Celtics fan is going to hate him because he's such a dirty player. Watch.

For the LLE he'd be a solid pick up IMO, easily better than a Quinton Ross or Dahntay Jones. Weaknesses aside he is the prototypical hustle/three point shooting SF/PF role player and he is serviceable on both sides of the court even if he's not that great.

Not the end of the world if Orlando grabs him instead.

I don't see how he gets mins on the C's.

I understand that people want Ray and Paul to rest but ideally you would bring in someone who brings something to the table. I don't know that Barnes adds a dynamic to the roster.

Sorry to be so repetitive but the only dynamic Barnes would bring is a guy who takes cheapshots at his opponent any chance he gets.

Return to Boston Celtics
