For what it's worth... Boozer was just on ESPN 1000 in Chicago and Boozer did say management told him that they were going in another direction(meaning he's gone). He sounds like he wants to play with Wade... so I'd guess his #1 destination would be Miami... but did say if he came to Chicago he'd make a call to Wade once he became a free agent to come to Chicago.

what are the chances boozer is going to end up in Chicago. I say highly unlikely at this point. The Bulls front court would be powerful though with Boozer. But it's up to the Jazz front office and what they're willing to accept.

Chances are exceptionally slim.

Honestly it feels like Boozer is trying to orchestrate his move to the Bulls, while I would welcome it, it just stinks in general. He is the piece that we've been craving for god knows how long, so if he proves himself healthy it would go a long way in free agency. The stats are a given, there is no-one else in the front court that is capable.

What better way to boost your value quickly than go to a team that so desperately needs your services.

Really though there isn't a big hurry to move Boozer in my mind. Millsap's decision and payment would be a quick requirement but necessary whether or not you move Boozer.

The only potential issue of course is how do you go into camp with Boozer at this point. But there may be someone (a borderline contender) more motivated to make a deal later on.

At this point they can choose to match Milsap or not. All the while trying to trade Boozer. Once Milsap is matched teams will know they are in a bind to move Boozer.

There might be better offers near the trade deadline, but there might not be. And if the Jazz need to make a deal to cut salary, they could find themselves in a jam.

They almost certainly will match even if they have not traded Boozer, but I suspect they are determined to get the framework of a Boozer done first if at all possible.

Boozer being traded doesn't really clear that much cap up. If he expires then that clears cap up.

The Bulls and Heat are both unable to give Utah cap relief. They can match salary for Boozer but neither team can absorb any. a third team would be necessary - and right now only Portland, OKC or Memphis can absorb salary. If Memphis actually gets AI, cross them off the list. If Utah does not match on Millsap, cross Portland off the list.

I maybe wrong but i heard this proposed deal, would saves the Jazz close to 6 million dollars.

1. Haslem/JJ/pick for Boozer
2.TPE for Miles

Let's look at those individually:

Haslem/James Jones for Boozer saves Utah ~$1.2M.

CJ Miles for TPE saves them $3.7M (all of CJ's deal).

Question 1: How is that close to $6M?

Question 2: Since most of the cap relief in that deal is Miles, why not just trade him and leave Boozer out of it? It's not worth trading Boozer for $1.2M in cap relief and four more years of James Jones.

Maybe I'm missing something but that seems like a horrible deal for the Jazz.

Pat Riley has listened to Dwyane Wade(notes) express his unease with the Miami Heat sitting out the Eastern Conference’s arms race this summer. As the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic elevated themselves as championship contenders, the Heat president sold his superstar on patience, promising a plan to surround him with talent for the long run.

Now, the Heat are working furiously to deliver Lamar Odom(notes) and Carlos Boozer(notes) to the shores of Biscayne Bay. The Heat are trying to sell Odom on a five-year, $34 million contract at the mid-level exception, and a league executive with knowledge of the talks says Miami has also hatched a three-way proposal with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies to secure Boozer.

The essentials of a possible deal would include Miami sending forward Udonis Haslem(notes) and Dorrell Wright to Utah. Because Memphis is under the cap, Utah could move Wright’s $2.8 million salary to the Grizzlies and save itself approximately $5.6 million with salary and luxury-tax payments. Memphis would probably get cash and picks for its trouble. The Heat would have to send one more small contract to make the math on the salary exchange work.

well recent reports suggest James Jones is not in the deal but FYI his contract has a opt out for the team that owns him after this coming season.

That would make it more palatable, but I doubt the Jazz would move CJ just for cap relief.

That other deal sounds intriguing. It's a compromise between complete tax relief and promising young players: partial tax relief and a solid role player. I would hope the Jazz could get a pick out of Miami as well.

Hopefully the Bulls and Heat will bid each other up a little.

The problem with Boozer is that he's an expiring contract.

Many teams can trade other expirings for him. But those options do not give Utah the Lux Tax relief in 2009-10 that they want.

Bulls can trade Jerome James, who may be injured all season - and therefore insurance pays 80%. That would save Utah some cash - but James' whole salary would normally count toward Lux Tax, which is no relief there.

If I have to hear about Jerome James and his possible insured contract one more time...

We just need to give Jerome James the Carlos Boozer Syndrome and we're set.
