Dejaun Blair

Post#1 » by SApuro_ » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:55 am

Did anyone catch that blair DNP today in the summer league. I was reading an article that said he didn't play because of a contract dispute. Anyone have further information? The guy is lottery talent that happened to fall in the 2nd round. I can definately see how he wouldn't want to get completely low balled by the spurs.

I heard it's a combination of the contract issue as well as the Spurs trying to see what other guys can do, since they pretty much know what to expect from Blair.

After his dominant 13/10 Summer League game, I heard that Blair demanded a max contract.

I dont understand...Chris Douglas Roberts didnt get any undeserved money for being picked late...He needs to stop crying about money and go out and prove himself to get a better contract...case closed.

Tough break he doesn't get to play in front of the owner. But you business is business. Bottom line he wants to be a spur so they'll come up with something. I am curious what the going rate for a lottery pick quality player falling to the 2nd round with bum knees is going for these days.

2.7 over three years sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Hopefully he can continue to play well in summer league.

He must the highest 37th pick in history. 900k per is a bit steep for a 2nd rounder plus its guaranteed. Thats basically a 1st rounders contract.

I think Dragic got a better contract with Suns. Not sure if he was the 37th pick (lol) but he was picked in the 2nd round.

Blair was always projected to be a lottery talent so it's no suprise, if anything this show of respect by the Spurs will give him a real shot in the arm to prove himself. It's a win win situation for Blair and the Spurs.

I admit that Blair“s best option was to go and get some good money overseas if it is true that he can not have a very long nba career, lol.

Europe wouldn't have offered him much more, as he's unproven right now. Anyways, he has 20 and 5 in his second game, showed alot of promise on the block and off the dribble. He's gonna be solid.

Yeah another solid game for Blair...but did you read some of the commentary on him. Doesn't Hustle as much as some thought he would. Takes plays off. That completely blew me away. I totally put this kid on having a motor similar to malik rose. Hope he was just taking plays off because its summer league. No way hes going to get very far in this league without hustle. The guy has two shot knees and is greatly undersized. He has to make that up with hustle and drive.

I don't know about you but I prefer size. It's one of the few things about basketball that you can't teach. Let's hope that Blair can more than make up for his physical disadvantage in spades.
