Will OKC make an offer to David Lee?

Knicks fan here and I am sweatin. I know you guys already have Collison but I am just wondering if you guys will sign D. Lee to a multi-year deal. I read on the wiretap that OKC will not spend money this offseason so does that mean you guys are saving money for 2010 and will not pursue David lee this summer?

I think that what will end up happening is that we will not splurge big this summer or next. We will maybe acquire a couple of cheaper pieces that will fit the proper role with out team. But I think with OKC being a smaller market, we'll probably just save our money for when we have to sign Durant/Green/Westbrook to extensions. Not the most exciting thing to do but it is the smart thing to do, IMO.

Unfortunately David Lee is asking for too much money for what he has done so far in the league. At this point, don't expect the Thunder to make an offer for him.

Remember, David Lee HAS to ask for a lot of money or else the Cablevision Knicks would just match.

If he can be had for an average of $7 mill, he might be worth it. Anything more, and the team would be much better off just waiting. I did like Milsap more though.

Could we really have him and Collison on the same team? Aren't they practically the same player? Maybe Lee is a bit better offensively but I don't think it's worth paying him the money he wants. Now if we were looking to trade old Nick then I can see something.

Cdub, I agree. I've made that comparison before. I think that Lee is definitely has significantly more talent and Collison can play a bit of center. But I do feel like they would fill the same role on the team. I guess maybe if you started Lee and then had Collsion backing him up, but I don't think that they could be on the floor together. The problem with having Collison backing up Lee is that then you've got Green sitting there getting no minutes at PF and what, 12 behind Durant at the 3? Not going to happen...

I was hopng we would take a run at David Lee, I was assuming Lee would start at C with Collison backing up both him and Green. I certainly did not feel it would negatively impact Green's minutes at all.

With Watson gone, now Collison becomes the oldest/highest paid guy on the roster, I would not be suprised if he is dealt somehow before the trade deadline. Would the Knicks S&T Lee for Collison plus a future seond round pick & cash or something like that? What does Collison have left on his contract? Would he expire in time to fit into the Knicks 2010 plans?

I don't see David Lee capable of playing C, and I'm confused how dare he ask a contract of 12M/1yr with his awful defense. He is definitely a double-double machine, but I really don't expect him to carry the Thunder to the next level, instead Collison is the more solid player the Team needs.

It has nothing to do with playing Lee and collison the same role, it's about the money Lee wants. DAvid Lee is not a star, nor is he a game changer.
