Re: Summer League Team
mullens leaves his man and spurs get an open dunk.
blair offensive board on a free throw, just pushed mullens aside like a rag doll.

it won't show in the boxscore but devon hardin's playing really good defense.

Re: Summer League Team
first half over. kyle weaver most impressive. he had two very nifty passes to d.j. white under the basket for easy finishes and his jumper looks much better than last year.
watching devon hardin and blair battle was interesting, hardin's got to be 260 pounds, he wasn't giving anything to blair. i like hardin's physical tools but he just doesn't have any skill.
d.j. white's on with his jumper and was recipient of a couple nice looks by weaver. i don't think he's really a banger though, which is disappointing. he seems to prefer the mid range game.
ibaka's been unimpressive in vegas. those offensive boards in the box score, all except one i think were missed tip ins. i think ibaka could have done well with another year overseas. his jumper is a plus but he's not really finishing well in traffic.
livingston can't shoot to save his life but he's a steady guard who knows how to run an offense. three assists (should have been four, mullens botched a jam) and no turnovers.

i hate to keep ragging on mullens but he is constantly getting lost on defense and spurs are getting wide open looks

Re: Summer League Team
slick, just thought I'd post and let you know that your commentary wasn't going unoticed, haha
always appreciate hearing your opinions on the game!
Crazy that Ibaka has 7 offensive boards and ZERO defensive. Something about that (like missed tip-ins) screams out to me. Generally, if you're putting enough effort on offense to end up with those numbers, then you should have AT LEAST that many on D.

Re: Summer League Team
One thing I would have to say is that it seems like (statistically and from a few of the game I've seen) that Weaver has found his rhythm on his J. If he can get that going, then he should be able to remain a piece of the rotation.

Re: Summer League Team
kind of a boring end to the game.
d.j. white was the 'star'. he was hitting his jumper and looked confident offensively. i think he's an nba rotation power forward but i'm still disappointed he's not more of a banger. maybe that's something that will come for him, or it's a result of his recovery. i remember him being a lot more bullish in college.
kyle weaver started off strong but really tailed off. he started getting too cute with his passing and had a bunch of turnovers in the second half. boxscore says six total but i think that's a little low. a couple of his turnovers were due to players dropping passes.
b.j. mullens is going to be a real project. i don't really know what to make of him. his jumper and touch look nice, but he just shoots too much. he got absolutely crushed by dejuan blair whenever the two were within three feet of each other. mullens is no twig, he's probably over 260 pounds now and he's got a frame that can put on more weight. i just hope it's a case of him not knowing how to use his body rather him not wanting to.
darth vaden finally found his stroke. his jumper's pretty ugly looking, though. he didn't seem to do much else on the court besides spot up but i guess this was expected.
i think livingston will be better against nba competition. he does a good job getting to his spots but he doesn't seem to really have the confidence in his teammates.
it's a shame we can't give mullens' skills to devon hardin. he's real athletic and strong and gave blair the most problems out of all our guys.
ibaka was decent. he had a little stetch where he nailed some jumpers over his defender. he's got good form even on the fade away, but he's going to have to put some work into being able to get easier looks. he missed a lot of tip ins.

Re: Summer League Team
Just from the box score (didn't watch the game and not trying to represent it as doing so)... Nice to see Vaden actually hitting some dang Js. How the heck to you get 7 offensive boards and one on D (Ibaka)?? How are you an athletic 7 footer and get 1 board and 1 block in 25 min (Mullens).
Good to see DJ White shooting well, but I'm surprised by what Slick said about not banging down-low. From my views in college, he was never tentative to bang down low. It would really hurt him if he resisted at this level.

Re: Summer League Team
harden not really looking for his offense, the difference between livingston running the offense and weaver is night and day. offense looks real bad without shaun livingston.

Re: Summer League Team
Mullens 7 points 5 boards...
He needs to go up stronger though, got destroyed by Nelson just now.
