Kahn interview

Post#1 » by tvwolves7 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 2:34 am

Timberwolves.com did an interview with him and I thought there was some interesting things to take out of it.

http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/news/Da ... 90715.html

Question on Rubio
David Kahn: I don't have too much to report. It's only been 18 days since the draft. It's pretty much where it was even that night. There is a significant issue with the buyout. There has been a lot of discussions behind the scenes. But I'm hopeful that in the next 10 days (to) two weeks, maybe we can start to clarify where we are with the buyout situation.

I am suprised he gave a time table when most likely new news would come out.

Question on Pekovic:
Kahn: Pekovic, we own his rights. I have been led to believe by his agent that after next season -- he has one more season under his contract with Panathanaikos -- that he would like to explore coming over here. So I'm certain during this season, we'll continue to scout him and evaluate him and be working with his agent in terms of figuring out if that's what's in the game plan for the 2010-11 season.

This is exciting news and strengthens the notion that he will come over in 2010-2011.

If we don't get a quality rim protector with some semblance of an offensive game (which are awfully rare these days), I'm still liking the idea of having a Love/Pekovic/Jefferson rotation at 4/5. Whether or not his skills are a perfect match is not as much of an issue as I see him giving us greater production than any other third big man that we are likely to get. Either the three of them work out marvelously and we have a stunningly dominant front court or else we showcase Pekovic in the NBA game and then trade him for a better fitting player.

I certainly hope we've got Rubio and Pekovic by next season.
