I think everyone, including myself, have gotten into the Twitter craze in trying to see what's happening in the NBA.
Problem is that most the stuff u hear is garbage, opinion, or word from word from someone else which gets misinterpreted.
All those crazy IHG 'tweets,' the NBA player 'tweets' (Shaq, Dudley, Jennings, etc.) and even Ric Bucher ESPN tweets are just that: Tweets. Not news.
Ric Bucher just issued this on his twitter regarding the twitter info he gives:
"This, btw, is what sucks about sites posting my tweets as if they're news reports. Hoped to informally share w/fans what I hear. Can't now."
Most the stuff you hear on Twitter never actually happens. I doubt a Von Wafer comes, I doubt a Nash extension occurs within next 48 hours, and I doubt Suns are gonna keep Pavlovic. IHG himself said last week that Suns plan to keep Pavlovic, that Hill is signed with Knicks, and that Nash extension is coming up in a few hours.
The only truth I know is one that I hear from a primary source. In my case, I know several trainers in the business and speak with them face to face. Outside of that, I think twitter is garbage.

Re: OT: 'Tweet' Message Is NOT News
I'd say most tweets are just rumors, some more informed than others. Doesn't make it any less/more credible than any other internet rumor that doesn't come true. Things fall through all the time, regardless of the outlet on which it's reported.
I see what your saying about people interpreting 'tweets' as fact but truth is even if Steve Kerr himself told me they were "close" to signing A player I'd wait to see if it was true (granted he'd likely have good sources, lol)... but we all remember that John Salmons was practically a Sun a couple years ago.... we just forgot to tell him.

Re: OT: 'Tweet' Message Is NOT News
I've said it before and I'll say it again, all those tweets including the now famous and renounced "IHG" tweets are a bunch of garbage. This board use to be about posting reliable sources as breaking news happened but now it's about posting a tweet that someone else posted somewhere else that was posted somewhere else...get the trend? I don't wanna go at it again because we had this same stressful conversation about a week ago and I promised TASTIC i would just ignore anything that has to do with "IHG" or any other unrealiable "tweet" source, and I have done just that. I posted here tonight because this is the actual subject on hand.
At this point, I'm still waiting for us to trade Amare to GS in a trade that includes Curry, and for us to sign Wafer. If it happens great, if it doesn't happen great, afterall it was just a tweet.

Yes indeed.
"IHG" tweets are seldom correct. If Suns roster was based on "IHG" type tweets, the following would occur:
-Nash resigned at 3 years
-Amare traded to GS for 5 players
-Grant signed with Knicks
-Sasha stays on suns cause Suns love his game
-Suns sign Von Wafer
-Suns close to dealing JRich and/or Barbosa
Boy, if Twitter dictated all the Suns moves, the roster would look like this:
C Biendris / Lopez
F Wright / Frye
F Azubuike / Pavlovic
G Curry / Wafer
G Nash / Dragic
Hmmm.......

I gotta disagree with you there, this (and any board) has always posted any rumor they hear regardless of the source, some do take them too seriously but I like to hear the rumors as they come in... the GS rumor did have legs as ESPN reported similar rumors, it fell through and maybe it was reported on here as more certain than it ended up being but I think everyone can appreciate the rumor if they took it as such when reported.... thats a big part of the reason we come here is to hear all the rumors.

I gotta disagree with you a bit as well. I remember threads getting locked for not having enough sources to support it, now all of a sudden a "tweet" is a reliable source well supported? I don't mind rumors, I think all of us here love rumors, what I don't agree with are threads that read "Wafer to sign with Suns", "Hill to the Knicks", "Suns to keep Pavlovic" etc, and then when you click on it to check the source you're in it for a dissapointing surprise...it was just a tweet.
No hard feelings just my opinion, mate.

Re: OT: 'Tweet' Message Is NOT News
I agree if a thread said "wafer to sign with suns", then it'd be presumptuous and likely be locked or suggested to be reworded. But the thread in question is just posting a rumor as it was 'tweeted', fine line I know. All I'm saying is if a website posted a similar post we'd have a similar forum post discussing it and bashing their sources.
I don't dissagree with the whole premise of this thread... to me its the exact same thing as if someone posted it on their blog, website or column. All I'm saying is that internet rumors were around long before twitter.

Re: OT: 'Tweet' Message Is NOT News
Theyre called rumors because theyre not facts.
What are we complaining about?
I really dont get this hard-on everyone has with crucifying every vetted source on here. He has yet to guarantee something happens.
He is RELAYING information with no strings attached, which he has been very clear of from the start.
Meanwhile, people are bandwagoning behind a thread starter with legit personality disorders, who has been straight up exiled from at least 3 other forum venues in the last year for consistently erratic behavior.
Wake up and smell the coffee ladies; this is much ado about nothing. Get on with your lives and either choose to believe him or not. And send your complaints to TASTIC if you have an issue with the vetting process, which would be much more rational but equally silly.
Get it together.

IHG is an idiot. He doesn't say **** no strings attached. He sounds "count on it" or "if this doesn't happen I will be banned forever" (which he is)

Re: OT: 'Tweet' Message Is NOT News
I agree to a point WTF FTW. However, I do feel annoyed with the tweets because it has made the so called "rumors" and so called "insiders" to spout off and make the whole thing worse. Like I have said, I have lost respect from the way IHG went about it. Some of the things he said was right on, some thus far has been totally BS. But we cannot bash him for reporting the Amare GS trade because he was right. He is not th GM that could not get the deal done which we know was in place.
If I hear a rumor or some new insider comes in and spout off, I usually do not try to attack him and see if his word sets him free. I tend to believe guys who are really in the know and have had at least a connection and reputation the past decade or so.
rumors are rumors and in the nba, 90%+ of them never happen.
