Watson Waived... Hmmmm

Post#1 » by Danny Darko » Fri Jul 17, 2009 11:02 pm

Watson?

Earl Watson is newly waived... I actually think he's a great defender of fast pg's and could benefit from open 3's like Trev did.

I'm fully behind trusting Josh Powell (if we lose LO) and signing Earl as apposed to getting Joe Smith or Drew Gooden. Of course best would be get earl and move a Farmar and someone for a decent PF off the bench.

Thoughts?

I think Farmar will redeem himself next season. But I like Watson's defense a lot. Too small for Phil, though. At this point, I'd trust Shannon Brown's expected improvement to bring enough depth at the one as is.

I want Odom back, or Millsap or Lee in his place. Odom would flourish with NYK, MIA, UTA. I'd probably have to say, forget about Watson and try to solve the PF depth situation instead.

Good to see I'm not the only Laker fan who isn't opposed to David Lee in purple in gold --- should we officially lose Odom, of course.

I like Watson too, but definitely no home here. We'd have to dump players for cash or picks. Or find a team to basically sign and trade. I can't see Kupchak going through the trouble. I'd assume Brown will depended on to "replace" anything Earl would have done.

If you ask me, Lee is likely become a real star, next season. I love his game. Fierce competitor.

He's as big as Derek Fisher though, and Farmar isn't much bigger than Fisher.

Nah I think we we have the vet min to throw at him. I doubt he has a high price tag, but I hear the Lee idea loud and clear.

I think his listed height at 6'1" must be hyped. I'd be very surprised if he's anything above 5'11" in reality, but maybe I'm completely wrong here.

We are so far over the cap. How are we going to sign anyone. We used up all the money and Ron and Shannon. None of those playere are coming here for vets min. Lee wants 10 mil plus a season. If we had that money. LO would be resigned. Watson. Makes you wonder why he was cut. UCLA days are just that. Days gone by. Whats next. King James to the lakers. People, think real and not out there.

Well, if we signed Watson, we could maybe package Farmar (perfect for D'Antoni's system) with Odom and force their hand to ship Lee to LA. But I think I'd rather have Farmar and LO than Watson and Lee, though.

Don't know enough about Sessions' game to have an informed opinion. I remember that Stu Lantz spoke well of him and he's usually a good judge of players.

Matt Barnes can stay where he is, in my opinion.

Why should you need a PG? We just got Shannon Brown back so there's no need for another PG. What we need is another versatile big man to replace LO. The best situation for LA is to sign LO then trade him to the heat since the heat wants him badly for Udonis Haslem and Michael Beasley thats a fair deal ok? Mitch should realize that holding too long waiting for LO will limit his options. So that we can SLEEP WELL S&T LO to Miami for Haslem and Beasley and we can start rolllin...

We still need a point guard capable of starting and play big minutes. We don't currently have that with out rotation. This needs to be addressed next summer.

Watson would be a decent pick up but wonder what kind of money he would be asking for? Also how much can LA offer him?

He's no better option than Fish, Farm, Brown. He's kind of a mix between F and F, and not even 6'1 like listed.

If Odom is gone and cannot be s/t'd, that resource needs to be used on a b/u PF not a 3rd PG
