How is White above Tebow??? Tebow has much better throwing stats and even bets White in RUNNING stats. I'd put Tebow at one, followed by Woodson at two. Mcfadden gets screwed because his team sucks.

desean jackson sure seems to do well in the big games. cal will be #3 in the country by the time we play again, and jackson has shown up huge in the two national spotlight games we've had. if cal goes 11-1 or better and beats usc with jackson having another huge game, jackson could take the heisman.

white and slaton are done. all the michigan guys are done. brohm is done. brennan was done before the season started thanks to the sec-esque ooc scheduling. mcfadden is done (team isn't good enough). lsu doesn't have a big name offensive player (and its an offense award). tebow needs to win the sec. if jackson lights up usc, he's the west coast candidate over booty.

I think Andre Woodson's schedule is pretty tough after today. He has South Carolina, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee. If he plays very well in those games i see him being your 2007-2008 Heisman Trophy Winner. As much as i hate to say that, my boy Matt Ryan hasn't been playing as well as i thought he would these last few games.

he put himself in the discussion today, but he had done nothing until this point. If he lights up USC and Cal wins out, he's got as good a chance as anyone, but he's gotta put up 10+ catches, 150+ yards, and 2+TDs every week to win it IMO. And he just might :wink:

I'm not sure anyone is done in September although i wrote Brohm and Mcfadden done a week ago

, I agree on Desean Jackson being right up there and i like Woodson's chances. By the way does his throwing motion remind anyone of Kerry Collins or is it just me?

It sure does--it's in my scouting report on him. It used to be more exaggerated but he's toned it down since the beginning of last season.

Mike Hart played great against App St. and gets loads of Midwest love. He will be in NYC.

he still allowed his team to lose to a d1aa school at home. his team then got absolutely destroyed at home the next week. if the big11 didn't stink this year, michigan would be looking at struggling to make a bowl game. hart's only chance is as a lifetime achievement award but those usually go to guys who set the career rushing record (dayne, sticky icky williams). you could be right about the midwest love thing. never underestimate homer media, except in the west coast where it doesn't exist for some reason.

i'm not sure brohm is going to nyc. he might, but i'm guessing ul would have to win out. he'll be splitting regional votes with woodson and the wvu guys.

jackson's chances are alive in no small part because there are no obvious qb or rb candidates this year. his candidacy won't be built on overwhelming statistics. if he is a serious contender he'll need good #s, but his candidacy would be pillared on highlight reel plays, coming up big in the big games (punt return td against tenn, career receiving day against oregon), and being perceived to be the man on one of the best teams in the country. he got a solid amount of preseason heisman hype and he makes enough sportscenter plays to be well known to the midwest and east coast voters (not being strong in these 2 areas killed jj arrington a few years ago). jackson will have a huge stage right before the votes are to start coming in with the showdown against usc, so he'll have a chance to make a strong last impression. he already made a strong first impression against tenn (and to a lesser extent, oregon). primacy and recency.

Hart was not the reason Michigan lost--he was the reason they didn't lose by 30. But your point is well-taken.

Last defensive guy besides Woodson (who had 11 catches for 106 yards, 1 TD and also led the Big 10 in PR) to make NYC:
Marvin Jones, LB, Florida State in 1992, the year Gino Toretta won and the beginning of a string of almost embarrasin "career acheivement" awards that lasted until Leinart won.

Orlando Pace got 4th in 96 and probably kept Troy Davis from winning by siphoning the Midwest vote from the Iowa St. RB. AJ Hawk got 6th 2 years ago, but the best straight defender finish in our lifetimes was Hugh Green coming in a strong 2nd in 1980.
