No worries

Post#1 » by Dalakerbox » Fri Jul 17, 2009 8:09 pm

I am just now realizing that Phil has never won a championship as a coach and did not three-peat. With that being said I really do not think we have anything to worry about as fans, Phil would not have accepted another year if he didn't strongly believe we were going to do it again next year, with or with out L.O. We are fortunate enough to be fans of the greatest ball club in history and have the best front office in the league. These guys will figure something out be it Sign or sign and trade or simply letting this man walk. I also think that just having Kobe on the floor during the playoffs gives us a better chance at winning than any other team (he is just so darn good) and my opinion is Pau is alone as the best Power Forward in the league unless KG has one of his magical seasons this coming year but even then Pau is scary good, then you throw in your Bynum's and Artest's and yes even the Farmar's we are pretty tough to beat. This is not an L.O thread rather a "go home and rest easy enjoy the rest of the summer thread" We have all been on edge with this whole mess and I for one would like to be done with it! Fell free to lock it this if there has been similar thread just had to get it off my chest
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

how can you say that about Phil? You single-handedly undermined every championship he ever won. It's completely asinine to think that PJ wants to come back just because he's "going for the ride" as opposed to being the driver.

Phil has a tremendous influence on/off the court and it helps win a ring. No way you can put Larry Brown or some guy like that and still get a ring like LA did in 09

wait wait wait buddy! I think you got this all wrong I am in no way undermining Phil....where did this come from? Phil said it himself his return depended on the teams success! But you are so right Phil is the driver of the vehicle as he was in Chicago which is why every title he won led to two more following it. I agree there is no debate here, no other coach could accomplish this which is why you and all of us should rest easy through out the rest of the summer. I know all of us are great debaters you sort of have to to be as a lakers fan but this is not the thread for that Shiggity

i think what he was trying to say is that everytime Phil has won a championship it has been apart of a threepeat

but i don't agree with the "take the summer off and rest easy" approach, the next two titles are not going to be handed to us, getting complacent isn't an option

PJ's first 9 rings all came from 3peats. Maybe with this Laker team, he could have his 4th 3peat :D
