Leo Lyons

Post#1 » by Wisedude42 » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:05 pm

Lyons IMO earned an invitation to the Cavs' training camp. I like this kid's talent and ability. He showed me that he should have been drafted in the 2nd round. He and Dajuan Summers, who I wanted the Cavs to draft in the 1st round, are similar players with similar bodies. In fact, Lyons showed that he is the better defensive player and rebounder. Summers fouled out in 2 games getting 10 fouls in each game which shows he must get better defensively. Every player drafted has alot to work on including Blake Griffin.

Lyons probably can't handle any decent NBA player defensively in the paint. His rebounding is also suspect.

He'll get another look, maybe, but unless he bulks up considerably, I don't see him ever playing meaningful NBA minutes.

Lyons is a guy to see if he can make one of the last spots on the roster and then get time in the D league to see how he develops. It wasn't said that he could contribute in any meaningful way to the Cavs next season.

The Cavs PG's were so horrible in summer league it was difficult to evaluate any of their players but Lyons does appear to have a nice little jump shot which could serve him well in the pick n pop game. Defensively he has a long way to go. I could see him on some team's roster as a 15th guy who will spend most of the season in the D League.
