I don't call titles before we get them...I'm kind of superstitious that way...

I would love to believe so... but we have much to prove on the court.

The lack of front court depth seems overblown. Dyess/Blair/Haislip/Bonner can't be that much worse than Elson/Oberto/Horry/Bonner ('07) and Rose/Nazr/Rasho/Horry ('05) right? I think in the end it's going to go down to which contender is lucky enough to stay relatively healthy. This spurs team at full power is going to be downright scary and tough to beat.

Gotta love the NBA product right now. Its July and everyone is all pumped about the upcoming season. Honestly I think there are 5 teams who have a solid shot at the title. SA, LA, Cleveland, Boston, and Orlando. Injuries and team chemistry have a lot to do with championships. Hopefully everyones team stays healthy. Spurs have a good a shot as any. Can't remember a team that has had this much talent and depth. Tony, Jefferson, Manu, Duncan..throw in Mcdyess, Blair, Mason, Hill you are looking at a solid 8 man rotation. Thats with leaving Fin and Bonner out who were major contributors last year. Great to see the FO extend Tim Duncan's window for another ring...or two.

But at the end of the day when the dust settles the Lakers and Spurs have the best teams out west hands down. I'll take the Lakers in 7

Fisher Vs Parker
Bryant Vs. Jefferson
Artest Vs. Ginobili
Gasol Vs. McDyess
Bynum Vs. Duncan

LA Bench vs. SA Bench

This should be the finals

Still going to be some moving pieces but right now Spurs and Lakers in the West Conference Finals. First I hope now that pop has some youth we don't lay down for any games. That being said if we pick up the first seed that could be the difference.

PG Parker Fisher
big advantage spurs

SG Jefferson Bryant
big advantage lakers

SF Mason Artest
advantage lakers

PF Mcdyess Gasol
advantage lakers

C Duncan Bynum
advantage spurs

Bench Manu and company Odom and company
even

Don't forget there's also the possibility that Odom doesn't return to LA making it that much easier for SA (don't take it the wrong way). Odom was part of the reason they lost in 5 and with him gone LA loses a crucial element to LA's firepower. I think Odom is more invaluable to LA than Artest due to his size, length, passing ability, versatility, and overall the matchup problems he poses.

I like our chances if Odom doesn't return to LA. Fact is, the Lakers can't count on Bynum yet. He's too inconsistent. Without Odom, that means the Lakers have to play Gasol at Center, and give extended minutes at PF to artest, or even make Josh Powell a big part of their frontcourt rotation.

But with Odom around, I'll bet my money on Lakers winning the series too.

Odom should just sign with the Lakers... They gave him a fair offer.... and he is playing hardball. The thing is that Portland just doesn't want to pay him the big bucks.
