We don't need a third PG, and we're not trading Battier for Hinrich / Brewer.

Interesting! The two other forums are saying that Houston is getting by far the best end of the deal.

Didn't realize that you placed such a high value on Battier.

Brewer is a nice player but we think KURT Hinrich is a scrub.

It boils down to Heinrich for Dorsey, and Brewer for Battier, Barry, and White.

PG isn't an area of weakness for us; center is. I don't know if you noticed, but we lost our starting and backup centers in the playoffs and ran with Chuck Hayes at the 5 the rest of the way.

Dorsey is expected to finally get some minutes there this year. Why would we trade him away for an overpaid combo guard?

Battier is our glue guy and our best defender. Why would we trade him for Brewer? Don't get me wrong, Brewer is turning into a nice player, but Battier is worth more to this team than Brewer could probably bring.

This doesn't even make sense. Who came up with this? These trades hurt every team that's involved so why would they even do it?

not at the free throw line...

Yeah, whatever on that one.

Dorsey should be taken out. I was just using him for filler.

You're right. A guy who can hold Kobe to 40% shooting is useless. It's that kind of logic that has left the Utah Jazz without a championship after 50 years in the NBA. Stockton and Malone shouldn't have even been part of the NBA's 50 greatest because they were garbage.

i'd rather keep Battier, one of the best defenders and team leader in the nba than get over paid garbage or an average sg. Thanks but no thanks

Whoaaaaaa. That's a low blow dude. Stockton is equivalent to Steve Nash in those days, and I definitely wouldn't call nash garbage. Malone was a dirty player, but still a damn good PF. If we had him instead of barkley, we would have won more championships with Hakeem and Drexler.

As a Rox fan, I hate the Jazz but I draw the line somewhere and I've been known to be a reasonable guy. This trade/thread however IS garbage.

The trade is very reasonable in value, those saying it isn't aren't thinking it through.

HOWEVER: I am not convinced that Ronnie Brewer will ever be anything more than an inferior role player (read, significantly worse than Battier), and Hinrich doesn't help this team, which has no chance at contention next year.

Better to play Brooks and Lowry and see what we've got, I think there's an odds on chance one or both show themselves to be significantly better than Hinrich within the next year.

To sum up, the value is there (and perhaps generous to Houston). However, the fit is poor, and hence I doubt we would make this trade, except perhaps to spin some of those pieces off elsewhere for something that does help.

Bulls fan here. I'm surprised you guys already had a thread on this topic..

RUMOR: Scoop Jackson (ESPN 1000AM) presented this "Tweet"

Source: Gar is active n 3way trade wit Htown and Utah: TyThomas, KFesenko to Htown. CBoozer to Chi. SBattier, JJames, and CLaundry to Utah.

http://twitter.com/SportsUnplugged

Houston gets: Tyrus Thomas, Jerome James* and Kyrylo Fesenko
Chicago gets: Carlos Boozer
Utah gets: Shane Battier, Carl Landry

*salaries didn't match initially, so we believe it was a typo for James to go to Utah

Just wanted to share. YAY FOR TWITTER RUMORS!

Rockets are one of the few with good financial health. They are the buyer in the market not seller.
This is BS stuff with the way Rocket GM is buying picks and getting disabled player exception to spend more money to get players. How would Rockets management want Jerome James' money saving contract and trade away Battier & Landry (2 key rotation players)?

Rockets has already spent > $8 million just buying 4 2nd round picks. I mean 2nd round picks that may not be signed!!! Rockets don't need money saving contract!

This is pure BS.

Edit: If the deal is sending Boozer to Rockets, there is a chance this maybe true but i doubt Chicago will do that trade. Btw, Rockets already have Scola, Landry, Hayes, Dorsey, Andersen. Boozer is better player but not a huge upgrade at PF.
