Owners of all major sports are always bitching about losing money. Often, this is true on a year to year basis. But the fact is their investments, the value of the team, are increasing at a rate that more than offsets these "losses"

Personally, I'd rather have the bird in hand than to be chasing long shot rumors. It's doubtful that Paul is dealt and if he is there is no guarantee that the Hawks would be the ones to land him. If you leave holes in your roster just in case a big opportunity presents itself then more often than not you aren't going to be competitive.

Why would we run plays for a guy that is not skilled offensively? When I watch Al try to play with his back to the basket I don't see a guy that can average 20 a game. Other than having a solid jumper there really isn't much that he does especially well with the ball in his hands.

I wouldn't call his jumper solid

I feel like that is the closest thing to reliable in his offensive game. He couldn't hit one to save his life in the playoffs though.

I don't think Al really has any part of his game that he really excels at, I do believe that he has a very fundamentally solid game. He can't hit 3's, but he can do everything else at least reasonably well. I really don't see a reason why he can't become a more defensive-minded Carlos Boozer-type.

I would do a JJ/Horford package to grab Paul. JJ has peaked, Horford is overrated, while Paul is a once-in-a-generation player.

CP3/Bibby
Jamal Crawford
Marvin Williams
Josh Smith
Tyson Chandler/Zaza

Does that look like a championship team to you? It doesn't to me.

I'd do JJ, Mo Evans, Zaza, Teague, and the 2010 first for CP3 and Chandler.

LMAO....you would? I bet you would....ha ha ha. That is laughable. Your team does not need Chris Paul.

So stop it. You did a wonderful job getting Jamal Crawford and drafting Teague. But to resign Marvin Williams and Horford someone will have to go.
Or you might have to take a deal where you give up a little more then you get back. You will have to settle for veteran talent you can let go to resign Horford.
Obviously I would like to do a Marvin Williams to Milwaukee for Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas' expiring deals to free up money to keep Al Horford. Now actually, as a Bucks fan I really covet Al Horford and hope you do something stupid and let him go to free agency so we can grab him.
But you must decide between Josh Smith, Al Horford or Marvin Williams. Kurt Thomas and Bruce Bowen would balance out your team this year to make a run at the NBA finals. I got a buddy who told me you all would laugh in my face if I came over here with this...but you had better think it.
Marvin Williams as this team is will not like coming off the bench get 20 spot minutes in a contract year and neither will Horford.
So you had better watch your chemistry issues here with a young player and a volitile guy like Josh or it can undermine this great young team. Give Marvin to us, and take two proven vet in return and make a deep run this year and clear your cap next...

SF J. Smith
PF A. Horford
C Z. Pachulia
PG M. Bibby
SG J. Johnson
G J. Crawford
F M. Evans
F/C K. Thomas
PG F. Murray
F B. Bowen (Ok cut him for all I care and save money...?)
G J. Teague

Solid rotation huh? And all you give up is Marvin Williams...who wouldn't play anyways. I did your team a favor...Now if they can defend the post that is a title team right there!

Unless the Tax threshold goes very lower than now, I don't see a problem to keep the three of them.
The team could be better with a trade of one of these players, but not for less value, or less money.
Horford is on a big rookie contract, making more than 4M this coming season, so he wont get the kind of increase a guy like Ellis got. It's not like if he'd goes from 1M to 11M. And until he prove it, he's still far away from being All-Star. I love his energy, he's a solid player, but he will to show more than what he's doing to deserve lots of money.
He's better than lots of big having played for ATL, especially these last year, but getting a better C doesn't mean he has an All Star potential, and the All Star impact on the game.

Smith is near of All Star level, and he's "only" making 10.8M in the second year of his new contract.
This means that Horford is not deserving more than 8-9M at this moment.
Crawford will be expiring before Horford gets his new contract, so unless Crawford proves he's an important piece of this team, and even if it's the case, Bibby will be expiring the following year, there is no problem for the Horford extension, and keeping him, Smith and Marvin for years to come.

It's like you're overvaluing our own players to justify the fact that you want to give us some poor value for Marvin.
We need a guy like Kurt Thomas (I'd prefer him over lots of bigs available), but certainly not at the price of Marvin.

I don't know what's funnier, that these trades for Paul are being proposed or that people are actually turning them down instead of laughing at the absurdity of Paul for Joe/Horford/1st Rounder.

LOL what a horrible trade proposal.

first off, the hawks dont have to trade anyone. And even if they needed to free up money, Crawford will be a free agent before Al's contract is up. freeing up alot of cash to resign Al. Al isnt even that good, so there is contract shouldnt be huge anyways.
