Rumor: TJ could be headed to Boston too
http://www.redsarmy.com/home/2009/07/is-your-attitude-controllable-enough-to-win-a-championship.html
There is some speculation that TJ could be headed to Boston in the Daniels sign and trade. The Celtic's blog site's some tweets. I'm not sure if there is much to the rumor. I couldn't figure out who the tweets were from, maybe someone else can.
Also, it doesn't make that much sense. I assume if we traded ford, we would then match Jack. But we would be worse off with Jack as our starting pg. I guess we would save a little money, but all I assume Boston could offer are expiring contracts in exchange.
...another Boston blog speculated that Big Baby could be included. There has also been mention of Bill Walker among others.

Could it be too much to hope for Rondo as part of a deal?....

...that thought crossed my mind too. Judging by some of the things Ainge has done/siad, it seems like it is in the realm of possibilities. After Rondo's performance in the playoffs I would be shocked. Of course, i was shocked by Ainge's actions after Rondo's performance in the playoffs too.

I'd do that trade, even though I'm not the biggest Rondo guy, because he very well could be the answer to our long-term PG problems. Only other guy I'd want is Kendrick Perkins whose defense, rebounding, and tough guy in the middle attitude would be an asset to our frontcourt.

Re: Rumor: TJ could be headed to Boston too
I don't think there is any way we could possibly get Rondo. Other teams could offer so much more. What would the trade look like if we were to make a trade?
Indiana Outgoing:
TJ Ford
Marquis Daniels
Future 1st (top 3 or 10 protected, your pic)
Indiana Incoming:
Rajon Rondo
Brian Scalabrine
Tony Allen
I just don't see this happening. Would love to have Rondo, but probably not going to work.

yea thats what the celtics are going to do trade there promising young STARTING point guard, who averaged a triple double in the playoffs for a guy that is going to play here whether we give indiana anything or not, and TJ Ford hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
good joke i really got a good laugh out of that one,
there is absolutely no way the pacers have ANY chance of acquiring rondo without including danny granger in the deal, good try though

I doubt the trade would involve rondo. But if TJ is traded to Boston, it would most likely be a prequel to a Rondo trade.

That's why I said that "I don't see this happening." I was merely pointing out how little of interest we have for the celtics, and that is the best offer we could probably give. OBVIOUSLY not enough.

i just dont understand some of the pacers fans thinking of wanting to get actual value back for a player that is leaving in free agency no matter what you do; yall should be happy you might get an expiring contract or two to give you some options at the trade deadline and be done with it
thats like if a celtics fan last year were to say, well james posey is going to the hornets, but i wonder if we do a sign and trade we could trade posey and eddie house for chris paul
its stupid you dont throw **** out there and get back players like perk and rondo, guys who would start on 95% of the teams in the league, and have championship experience

The Pacers aren't getting near Rondo. It doesn't seem like a legit source calling the TJ part of the trade though. However, if it is, I'm assuming its a move to clear capspace and match Jack's offer from Toronto. We better be getting a 1st round pick though, trading Ford and Daniels without getting any talent back, expiring or not, would suck.

Re: Rumor: TJ could be headed to Boston too
Oh some don't want anything for Daniels, they just want to let him go with nothing in return. This is more about trading TJ now. We can get something for him, not Rondo, but something. You want to be able to get the most out of your players right? I mean, you want to go for the best offer you can get, and in the past teams have made some VERY stupid trades. What's to say we can't be on the good end of one of those trades... we all know we have been on the other end a number of times. Realistically we are not expecting a Rondo type player, but optimistically we want something that is going to value us as much as value the other team.

Re: Rumor: TJ could be headed to Boston too
Let's not forget Rondo was given the oppurtunity to play with 3 possible HOF's. I don't think you can put a premium on Bostons role players ( Davis, Rondo, Walker) because once KG comes back that is just what they'll be. Even w/o KG, these players have the benefit of Ray Allen and Tha Truth drawing all the attention. Around here Granger has a bullseye on his back, you can't put one on Rondo. It is my opinion that a very large number of pg's could land in Rondo's role and have success, while maintaing better consistency. Rondo has shown some potential on a large stage. He has shown me nothing in the way of putting him on some pedestal.

Haha. You consider spitballing or hypotheticals as gospel truth?? I'm sorry for you.
If the rumor out of Boston is that TJ is heading there, then that leads Indy fans to consider "Hmm....where the hell are we going to get a PG that's going to start for us???? I mean, we only have one starting PG, and we're apparently in talks to trade him to a team that already has Rajon Rondo, who is a PG that the GM is apparently not fond of right now?? Weird"
So, in essence, we're not looking for value for Daniels at all. If it can work that we get players we want or need in return, then we'll S&T him. If not, you guys will just use your bi-annual exception and pay the luxury tax on his additional salary.
However, if Boston was interested in TJ Ford, at that point we would be demanding some compensation, as he's our only starting PG on the roster. Make sense?

Only if we plan on matching the offer for Jack. Otherwise that would be utterly ignorant on the part of the Pacers. Who would start at PG? House??

Re: Rumor: TJ could be headed to Boston too
say all you want about rondo, oh he played with good players blah blah blah, check the rings
i love granger as a player but you can make just as good of argument that granger is all stats on a bad team, he has never even been to the playoffs, what is really more impressive, putting up stats on a lottery team, or running the offense of a team with three hall of famers and keeping all of them in check and happy
make rondo the focal point of an offense and he would put up numbers, and im not knocking granger either because i think if you put talent around him he could excel too
i really see a lot of pierce in granger, not as good as pierce but really good nonetheless, i hope it doesnt take as long for granger to get some good help as it did pierce
and by the way, i understand wanting to get full value of players in return, i dont think ford would be involved in the deal simply because we cant give you full or any real value in return(especially since you dont value expiring contracts) see the eddie house trade ie aint gonna happen, if we take a point guard in return i see it being travis not tj
what i heard boston is likely to give up is tony, gabe pruitt and bill walker, if it was them for quisy and denier i think thats a win for everybody is it not?

How about no.
If you want Daniels, take him.
If you want Ford, our starting PG, then you're going to have to either find us another starting PG in return, or offer us a helluva lot of value in order to convince us to go into the season with Earl Watson, Travis Diener, and AJ Price as our PG rotation.
