Houston is saving 4 million in salary and clearing 10 million off their 2010 cap number.

Houston just paid more than 6 million in buying three 2nd round picks in this draft. They'll likely sign atleast 2 of them and stash one oversea. We also signed Ariza to an MLE contract for 5 years. Additionally, we also acquired the service of David Andersen for 3 years @ 2.5 Million per. Does that look like a team trying to clear salary to you? Carl Landry at 3 million per year is one of NBA's better bargain, why would we trade him away..... for expiring contract?

This trade as it stands right now is awful. Makes absolutely zero sense to me. If Houston gets a first round pick, i'm going to tune it down to "bad". (unless we get the NY pick which wont happen)

I think I would do this trade for Utah and Chicago but I don't really see why Houston does it. Wouldn't it just make more sense to deal Boozer straight to Houston or Chicago?

I love this deal for Utah. I think you pull the trigger on this one if you can. Although I did just go look at Battiers' numbers from the last couple seasons...his production seems to be dropping over the last 2 seasons. So maybe I don't like this deal as much as I thought...

Edit: Never mind, just noticed he only played 60 games last season. Probably would explain the drop in production from the previous year. Still love this deal haha.

as a bulls' fan we obviously love it (and I'm a big Tyrus supporter). I would think the bulls could add their 2010 #1 to Houston (top 7 protected) to make it more fair. We should keep kirk, he'll be getting 30+ minutes this year and be a 6th man of the year candidate. Boozer makes us a threat in the East, if he and Deng stay healthy.

Houston MIGHT see this as a way to get a good prospect (tyrus) and cap space and rebuild in 2010?

Cut out the middle man i'll say.....

I'm starting to think the same if Hinrich is going to be cut out of the deal anyway.
