+1. At the start of the season i knew we had a championship material defense but because of the inconsistency of boeckman and wells on offense, i didnt even think we would be in top 2 in Big Ten. Now both of them look confident plus robieski is a beast i think we have a pretty good shot at NC.
Hard to believe, but if USC and/or LSU loses a game, South Florida could be playing for a national title. Seriously.
Or cincy. which would be crazy if cincy makes it and OSU doesnt. I think we will be looking at a one big BCS mess.

This Sat just goes to show that college football is the greatest sport on earth (college basketball and march madness a close sescond). The NFL is boring! NBA has become a joke! MLB, does anyone even care anymore? College football has become a sports fans wet dream.
My Bears at #3 now! Now I do not believe they are the 3rd best team in the county but it would sure as hell be nice to see #2 USC at #3 CAL in November. Lot of games left before that though. Great win today at the O. One of the best games of the season so far. Jackson always steps up in the big games like a true star does.
Will we see a NC game with a 1 loss team playing a 2 loss team? This just may be the year.

How fitting that I follow opzoneworld. Regardless, what a f**king pathetic loss. Oregon beats themselves YET AGAIN, and they lay an egg on national television to boot.
The people should be stirring the pot and questioning whether Bellotti is the man for the future. Seriously, two quarters of utterly uninspired play-calling and terrible defense from his butt buddy Alliotti. Dropping seven guys back into coverage would traditionally work if they had any idea how to cover, and Alliotti won't teach them that. Tackling, again, came and went.
DeSean Jackson was very impressive today but (calling my homer shot early) that's the best game he plays all year. He was the best receiver in the game today. Forsett also looked real impressive and it's easy to understand why he's considered among the nation's best backs. Longshore...was pretty bad. Cal won almost in spite of him.
The worst thing about the Ducks on this day was that THEY FAILED TO SEIZE MOMENTUM IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS. Outside of the last drive, they played with zero sense of urgency and it showed in play-calling and execution. There were a couple four-and-outs where, had they actually put together a scoring drive, they could have broken Cal's spirit and REALLY sent Autzen into a frenzy. But that's what great teams do, and Oregon clearly isn't a great team.
Oregon did not necessarily outplay Cal but they should have won by at least a touchdown. Also, WTF is with Cameron Colvin...that rule on touchbacks is incredibly stupid, but how can you POSSIBLY turn it over at that juncture in that manner? That just defies logic to me.
Colvin, for all the (deserved) flack that he'll receive, was probably the best player on the Ducks today. Stewart and Johnson had good but low-impact games, Dixon tried to blow the game in the second and third quarters, and Andiel Brown should be relieved of punt return duty.
Of course, it stings even more to know that, had the Ducks won, they'd be a top-5 team in the nation. But so much for that. And the fact that GameDay was in town. So much embarrassment, and they all need to be held accountable.

My observations after Week 5:
- Colt Brennan has officially extracted himself from the Heisman race.
- South Florida may be this years Florida (I hope)
- Kentucky may be this years Florida
- This could be the season that makes a 'National Playoff' a possiblity (If no one goes X-0)
- DeSean Jackson is furreal (He's my Heisman favorite right now)
- Next weeks OU vs. Texas game will be a snoozefest
- Allan Everidge better get ready to play next week vs. Illinois
- I want to party with Oregon fans
- The Pac 10 looks pretty good right now
- Notre Dame will win 2 games this year

What, you're so frustrated that you had to post this twice?
Just be thankful that you are not forced to endure watching the complete ineptitude know as Oregon State's offense. Having a QB who's thrown nearly twice as many interceptions as touchdowns is beyond unacceptable. Bernard is the only offensive threat they have, but you're not going to win games in the Pac-10 with only a running game. This is quickly turning into one of the most frustrating and embarrassing seasons in a long time.

Watching the USC vs UW game i think it's time to drop the Trojans and i would drop them to 3rd behind LSU and Cal (wont happen). Pete's boys just dont have the big play wideouts this year and they seem to be struggling with finding the go-to back (lots of candidates). Defensively they have talent across the board but the corners in true USC tradition leave too many guys open and they miss Brian Cushing. On the flip side he'll be back and they still have time to get the passing game together but i would drop them down a notch or two........guess a lot of teams would like their problems, right?

Evan as a huge CAL fan, there is no way you put CAL in front of USC right now. CAL has to beat them first. As far as USC falling, I do believe that LSU is better than USC but I do not believe USC dropes this week. If LSU beats Florida (like they should, sorry Florida fans) next week then they jump up to #1.
This is exactly why there should no ranking until week 4 imo.

Notice i did say it wasnt going to happen but i think in a perfect world you go by strength of schedule. Beating Tennessee and Oregon to me trumps beating Nebraska and the Washinton teams.

Actually, I have thought all season that Cal is the best team in the Pac-10. They started the season looking more complete and ready to play. They have not done anything yet to make me change my mind, nor has USC shown me anything to make me think that they are anything more than the 3rd best team in the Pac. At this point, my Pac-10 ranking would be

WSU
Arizona
OSU (yes, OSU is the worst team in the Pac, and that's coming from a die-hard OSU fan)

i hate reading this crap from cal fans. i know we had a lot of lousy teams from the 60's through the 90s, but we now have an elite team. deal with it. stop with all the we're not worthy, we're not that good, there's a clear seperation between the top 4 of fla/usc/lsu/okla and our tier. guess what, we're good. college football is opinion driven, and no one will think we're good if our own fans think we suck. the oregon state fan here thinks we're #1 in the conference but the cal fan thinks we're maybe #2 if we're lucky.
i have no idea why oregon went away from running stewart. seemed to be working well.
i'm really proud of my bears. going into autzen against a very good oregon team and missing 3 defensive starters and 2 other starters and winning. huge halftime adjustments. the much maligned defense came up with 3 turnovers in the 4th quarter. nate hobbling onto the field to lead the game winning td drive. the oline blowing oregon away when it was obvious we had no passing threat. ezeff redeeming himself for the 1st half penalty which cost us a td. i just wish we would've punched it in when we got the ball up 7 on the oregon 26 and ended it right there. a huge wasted opportunity that flipped momentum right back to oregon.
