Biggest Misconceptions about the Rockets
I spend probably way too much time on the Trade board, so I get to see a lot of opinions about our Rockets and what fans of other teams think of our team and it's needs.
What are some of the biggest misconceptions that you see regarding the Rockets?
I think that the biggest one is that many people believe that Houston must be desperate to get rid of McGrady (and his expiring deal) and they propose solutions that would make Isiah Thomas hang up the phone. I do think that the Rockets (and many fans) would like to see McGrady shipped out, but the rule of thumb for any deal has to be "is what is coming back better than 22+ million off of the cap next year?"
The second big misconception that I see is that Houston needs help at Power Forward. This really hasn't been an issue for 2 years, but many around the League either think very lowly of Scola/Landry/Hayes, or they dismiss them as being bad players, sight unseen. Sure, we would entertain thoughts of an upgrade, but it's not like our most consistant player this past season is a scrub like some make him out to be.

This is just a bad idea for a post on your part. I would recommend you go elsewhere if this is what you came here to contribute. Thanks

I'm wondering, do you really think this is going to get your point across. Think before you act my friend. It'll get you places in life.

Re: Biggest Misconceptions about the Rockets
Misconception:
Rockets need to take on bad contracts of mediocre players like Eddy Curry, Joel Pryzbilla, Jason Richardson, Stephen Jackson, etc
Truth:
Rockets are happy enough to just let the youth develop, and then re-tool with FAs next season.
Misconception:
Yao Ming is damaged goods, and needs to be traded for trash immediately.
Truth:
Yao can just as easily come back the season after next and play a good full season. Plenty of teams would still love to have him. Yao is also the reason why Rockets can afford to spend whatever they want on FAs, and why they have the ability to go over the luxury tax.

You forgot, "informative", "insightful", "helpful", "well thought out", and "contributing." Your post was none of those.
You know how people hate spam? In their inboxes or their regular mailboxes or even door to door salesmen? Vator isn't on a power trip... he is simply our filter for trash. He is being polite and letting you know that you are trash and that YOU have it in your own power to change that.

What bothers me the most about trade proposals with this mentality is that they always seem to have the Rockets moving out valuable role players along with the large contract (McGrady, Battier, Yao) and the person proposing it going to the "you think you can do better?" card when their idea is panned. I don't think that people understand the way that Morey thinks - that value and talent do not have to be mutually-exclusive. So many of the deals out there for players I do like (stephen Jackson for one) pretty much fly in the face of Morey's M.O.

I hope that we are a lottery team, but we would probably be one of those teams who would just make or miss out on the playoffs. We get diamonds in the rough in the 2nd round. Imagine if we had a first round pick with Morey...
