Is Griffin & Q-Rich all we have to show for this offseason?

Fellow Clipper fan Rikdaddy said his Clipper Rep said this to him: "it's not all about winning, it's about having fun at the games." Shoot me now.

We're nearing the end of July. Quite a few teams have made a splash in the FA market. Others have made huge trades. You'd think the Clips...loaded with a 7.3M trade exception and MLE...would do the same, right? WRONG.

Aside from winning the lottery and drafting the obvious #1 choice in BG, which then lead to the eminent case of unloading a big man(Z-Bo), the Clips have stood pat. For a team coming off a 19-win season, you'd think they'd make a strong effort to improve the roster. Instead, this is pretty much the same team we saw last year. Did Dumbleavy and Olshey forget that we have 3 open roster spots?!? I, for one, am disappointed in the lack of activity this offseason.

Season ticket sales haven't been great, I hear. Well, logic says if you sign a couple of solid FA's that can help the team win, sales should pick up right? Nope, instead the Clips are playing this waiting game with Iverson, whom apparently, DTS and Dumbleavy have clashing opinions on. DTS wants him strictly for ticket sales. Dun wants to build around Gordon and Griffin and doesn't think it would be the right basketball decision(I agree). What a hurdle to have!

Fans can't be happy with what is going on thus far. In fact, I am embarassed with the way things are going. And that's saying alot coming from a Clipper fan who gets ridiculed daily. :-? What are your thoughts?

A lot of teams are yet to make any moves at all. Unlike past years, it is a buyers market, and teams are being patient. I would be more likely to agree with you if the roster remains the same six weeks from now.

I agree with loflin, we just got to stay patient. Whether we do or don't make any more moves this off-season, there's no specific signing out there that will boost us to a contender instantly (unless trade). We have the #1 pick, and traded away a player we did not need on this team at all. You cannot deny that this team has made moves in the right direction. It's a slow process that will take some time.

So just be patient, and if we have to wait till next off-season when the great FA-class is available, so be it.
